Alan-
Theme concept for Shift Linux, code name "Snazzy" The window border will be able to be a color that the user chooses. There may be teasers for other things in this as well... ;)
Cosmin
I'll present my KDE 4.0 concept soon ( I hope 27-28 ) . Your work include even taskbar icons or ? I'll discuss on detail about this work after my release :) . Cosmin Edited February 23, 2008 by Cosmin
Alan-
Those are Gnome's taskbar icons, not mine. Although, if we could get them and make them a bit nicer well, that's even better.
Colin-uk Veteran Posted February 23, 2008 Veteran Share Posted February 23, 2008 Looks quite nice :) are the lolcats included? :p

Saint Shiv
Would it be easy to convert it to windows?
Alan-
Update: Folder icon done by simon360 Colin-uk: lolcats package is up for debate :p tunafish: You can find the wallpaper [here] (not my work but I couldn't find the original site where I got it) selflysis: I've only ever messed with Vista skinning, in which case it wouldn't be too terribly difficult, hardest part would be getting the window border just right. Maybe I'll just try Shift instead of waiting for a windows port, fine job!
tunafish
if this was also made for vista i would use it :) Or if someones willing to do a ubuntu port :)
Alan-
Shift is based on Ubuntu, so this theme will be compatable with just about any Linux distro that has Gnome (for starters, then we'll have KDE and others soon). But of course, we'd prefer it if you use Shift :p
gigapixels Veteran Posted February 23, 2008 Veteran Share Posted February 23, 2008 I'm not quite sure I like the shade of blue for the titlebar... Perhaps try changing it to the color of the blue arrow for the Shift logo? I like the overall look a lot though. Well done :)
lassekongo83
The metacity/emerald frame color reminds me of Windows XP too much. :p I would've used the same color from the panel.
Alan-
Heh, yeah. I still haven't decided on a default color yet for the frame, but I think I want some type of blue.

Solid Knight
It seems cobbled to me. The panel doesn't coordinate with the window's color scheme. The titlebar is too big. The minimize, resize and maximize buttons are too big. The border of the window doesn't contrast very well nor does it match the titlebar (at least in the screen shot, it's hard to tell since it is transparent). On top of all that it reminds me too much of Luna for XP which is another ugly theme.
p858snake
Maybe you should the colour of the middle button (min/maximize i think) so it stands out a bit better.

Oh, well I had those as like showing what it would look like when your mouse is over it. So, defautly it would appear just like the min/maximize button. CrimsonRedMk Member Posted February 24, 2008 Member Share Posted February 24, 2008 I like it, but here's a sort of idea...ripping straight from Vista...how about a color chooser? Looks too XPish for my liking :p
Alan-
Yeah, I want a color chooser for it, that way users can make it look however they want.
PricklyPoo
Looks good but is there a reason the window bar is a completely different color than the task bar?

Impact
I really like it, even though it does look a lot like XP.
Alan-
With many questions about the taskbar and the window color, I have made 2 mockups now. I originally made the taskbar a different kinda generic color in order to let the user pick any color for their window and still have it work. However, I realized that the color I picked wasn't completely generic. So below I have a more generic (black) and then I also have the taskbar being the same as the window. Note, the window colors are darker. Also, I made it look like what it would be with no mouseovers on the min/max/close, so you can see how a window would be the majority of the time. Black Taskbar: Same Color Taskbar: Which do you like better? Still too XPish?
