Do you use digg often? Have you heard of the "digg effect"? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digg_effect (it says slashdot effect, it's the same thing). Digg can send THOUSANDS of users to a website within minutes. That's what we experienced today.

Yes it does. I've seen it bring down many VERY popular sites you'd think could handle the load. Some would say the digg effect is worse then slashdotted.

Well i think it was 4,8XX not sure exactly tho... Thats why they were saying it's almost double when it was at 6K, then it poped 8K then 9 then was at 10 for a while then went to almost 12.

I'm guessing its because their pages are light, contain little code and pull the odd thing from a database. Forum software, different kettle of fish.
