Microsoft WorldWide Telescope video available now!

Science educator Roy Gould and Microsoft's Curtis Wong give an astonishing sneak preview of Microsoft's new WorldWide Telescope -- a technology that combines feeds from satellites and telescopes all over the world and the heavens, and weaves them together holistically to build a comprehensive view of our universe. (Yes, it's the technology that made Robert Scoble cry.)

HIGH DEF Video available here.

I actually think this is phenominal. I loved looking at the sky when i was a kid, i still do, but i live in town so i dont see it often. But when im out in the country i love taking walks at night and looking at the sky. Dunno why, i just find it mezmerising. Now i can find out more, and see further without having to buy a telescope. Man, i cant wait for this!

Thinkin about it, when i live out in a little village in the country, when ever i was down/upset/needed to relax, id just go for a wander. Go find a nice peice of grass to lye on and look at the sky for a couple of hours.

Sounds sad, but meh.

There's also a bit of video on the official site.

I'm definitely impressed by it, these days people are bombarded with all sorts of cool stuff which I think has a negative relative effect in general. Sure there's still a bit of hype surrounding this project but all in all I think it deserves the feel-good props, I'm sure that there's a lot of hard work behind this which I respect.

they're not even close. this thing is so far beyond the google earth thing it's not even the same league.

The OP said

Nothing to do with Google Earth, this is about Space and Galaxies. Not really the same as Google Earth.

He obviously had no clue that Google Earth has a Sky feature.... the next poster simply informed him, this is not a "which is better" argument.
