[Official] Grand Theft Auto IV

I'm kind of disappointed at the size of Liberty City... It feels really small compared to SA.

They say that its a lot more detailed which is kind of true since all the buildings go up a long way and it does feel a lot more like a city with more attention to detail, but the detail is just cosmetic.

It doesn't translate with shops at all... Theres just 4 clothes shops, of which two are copies of each other and one has clothes that aren't worth buying so there are only 2 shops really worth visiting :( (I didn't use spoiler tags since you could work that out from the map that comes with the game)

Also, what am I meant to do with the thousands I've made? I have $55k with nothing to buy. I would've thought I could buy new safehouses or something, or does that happen later on in the game?

LOL you guys are going to love how this one is twisted,

Grand Theft Auto IV - Secret Message for PS3 Users or Firehouse Pride?

GamingGuru writes: "Well after Marc finally explained to this idiot how to find it, I did. I must agree this looks very odd. Sure, it’s on the firehouse, so it is supposed to stand for Fire Department of Liberty City. Right? No harm in that.

However, Rockstar and GTA developers are not morons. Something this big and prominent can’t just be a accident".

GTA_FDLC.jpg

People are saying it should be Liberty City Fire Department, however it's been arranged to Fire Department Liberity City instead as FDLC could also stand for "F*** Downloadable Content"

Now now, no need to throw fire (no pun intended), have a laugh at this, rather than get in a tizzy.

The things some people get into, no wonder there is soo many conspiracy theories kicking about... (N)

Is it FDLC on the 360 version also?

I doubt it's a message at all, R* still have a job to do, and they're out 50mil if they pull any stunts ;)

After doing some more reading it seems it's FDNY in real life (New York), and since GTA4 is based on NY, the coincidence factor just went from duh, to downright obvious.

And I don't know if it's in the 360 version, most likely!

Done already!?!? I got the game like 3 days early and I'm still only about 50%. What, were you playing it 24/7?

Unemployed student here with no classes. So yes I did, play for about 12 hours each day. Had nothing better to do, other than Grocery shop.

Got a question here.

I'm currently at 43% Through the game and 18 Hours played - I unlocked the third island a few missions ago and got Packie's brothers as missions right now.

How far am i from the end? Will i also be able to do the 30 Hour Completion like this, i am also focusing on keeping relationships above 90% ( All of them are at 100% right now ).

Also, when does the real missions start? The game is so damn easy, It's getting on my nerves.

I finished with 94 missions, I did on Random Character, so 93 main story missions. I'm going to assume your on mission "Action Speaks Louder Than Wors" which leaves you with 30 missions roughly. Or you can just take how many missions you have done and subtract it from 93.

Out of the missions you have left I would put 5-7 near the difficult of "Three Leaf Clover" the rest or pretty easy to do. Your close, and I wouldn't focus on the friends anymore, just fly through missions, as after you finish the game you can do friends.

Note to all, watch and LISTEN to the credits. All the way through.

That's that settled then :p

Loving the 2nd island

Been playing the game a bit today and yesterday. Its a good game but I am not liking the way the cars handle, would like to turn around a corner properly! Game does get too dark and hazy in the distance a lot, especially at night which makes it hard to see what you are doing. Not tried online yet but probably will later.

Kinda wish I could've had the option to turn subtitles on at the beginning rather than having to wait until after the Intro for me to access the menu to then turn them on!

you could buy a lot of guns. or visit lots of hookers. :p

I figured out you can, while aiming, do a roll to the side using Left and X. I have done other rolls and slides but I think they're contextual with getting into cover(?). And what's the trick with running from cover to cover, it never seems to work right for me?!?!

It take practices. Though I found them fairly easy to handle actually. They're certainly not as forgiving as previous GTA games. But I find them alot more fun.

God, I'm ****ed!

Having some serious game issues for the first time, in the entire game.

I'm at the point where Roman got killed, so you need to kill Demitri. I've done 4 attempts at the Demitri Helicopter sequence but it keeps bugging!.

My first try i get kicked off the helicopter, ( As intended ) hurry to the boat but the RPG hits me dead-on, nothing you can do.

Second try, when you are about to climb Jacob's Helo, during the pushing sequence ( I wasn't slow ) The heli get hits by an RPG

Third try i get killed NEAR the boat by an RPG in the water, right after i fell down.

Fourth try I'm trying to get under Jacob's Helicopter. His heli starts to jump and bounce around and i had about 0.8 Seconds to board before he crashed into the pier.

This has killed everything for me at this point, how can you make such a perfect game and manage to screw up scripting so bad

The mission appears to be a walk in the park if these issues would be corrected, seems like the mission creation team were a bit too focused on that vacation when they made this one.

I also had problems, only thing I can tell ya is to keep going at it. This mission seems out of place compared to other missions during the game. You'll get it eventually.

Just a quick note on a certain mission that was heavily discussed in all the major previews:

When you go to kill the lawyer, instead of killing him with a gun, do it with a knife. You get a silent kill, no wanted level, no cops.

I just shot him and jumped out the window :p It saved running past the guards and getting a crazy wanted level.

I need to learn Military to civilian time. It keeps screwing me up when I call my friends. Keep losing likeness/respect when I call them at random times. :(

Took it upon myself to figure out times. Going to list Jacob, Packie, and Bruice. The spoiler guy is who I picked from Holland X mission. So call during these times to go on a play date.

Little Jacob: 13:00 - 04:00

Packie: 15:00 - 06:00

Brucie: 07:00 - 01:00

Dwayne: 11:00 - 03:00

Well, finally got through that mission with a few issues though.

Now i have another question. I wanted this achievement;

Liberty City (5)

After meeting all possible friends, the ones left alive all like you above 90%.

But i didn't get it. I noticed i had forgot all about Packie, didn't think he was on my social list. I can go back to "That Special Someone" Save, but no matter when i call him, It's always on the answering machine. Anyone know if i missed my chance to hang out with him so late in the game or will he 'open' up again? I am not gonna bother completing missions and all that if I'm not sure.

I saw the game for the first time round my mates house last night on his 360. I was impressed by the physics and the amount of interaction you can have with the game and overall it looks awesome, but to be honest I was let down by the graphics. The edges were really jagged in parts and it still had things like shrubs and plants popping up as you ran over them. I'm definitely going to wait for the PC version.

Same thing happend to me with Dwayne. Dwayne eventually called, so Packie should also. Also note people are reporting doing all activities (bowling/eating/drinking/strip club/show/helitour/boating/etc.) with each character coutns towards the 100%. So when you go to call them the list on the contact information you need to do at least once with them all. Sucks, cuz I kept doing Shows to quickly get my guys up to 90%.

anyone post up the phone numbers that spawn cars, etc?

I dont think you needed spoiler tags for that :p

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Resident Evil, Mafia, Like a Dragon, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. Songs of Conquest is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you'll be managing a kingdom, making tough decisions, and taking down enemy forces in tactical combat. Meanwhile, Rogue Waters is a roguelike where, as a pirate captain, you command a ship and crew through procedurally generated encounters. The double giveaway is coming to an end on June 11. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. The June selection is Octopath Traveler 2, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, and Overlooting to keep as Steam keys. The $15 bundle gives you all eight games from this month's Choice selection. The month-long promotion will come to an end on July 6, giving you ample time to decide on whether you want the titles. The Humble Store also brought in standard gaming collections this week. The IGN Live Bundle kicked things off with games like Control, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Blair Witch, Rollerdrome, and The Last Campfire for $10. At the same time, the We Will Always be Here bundle carried in titles like Bad End Theater, Thirsty Suitors, Vampire Therapist, and Tavern Talk for $12. Next, the 2K Sports Champions Bundle comes touting games like NBA 2K26, PGA TOUR 2K25, OlliOlli World Rad Edition, and TopSpin 2K25 with a hefty $25 price tag. Lastly, the Redline Racing Bundle is touting games like Art of Rally, Descenders, Mudrunner, and Assetto Corsa Competizione with a $10 price tag.
