Chart-Track estimates GTA IV broke UK sales record

Chart-Track estimates Grand Theft Auto IV sold 609,000 units on its launch day in the UK, which eclipses GTA: San Andreas' 2004 first-day record of 501,000 units. GI.biz reports the game also broke records among the two consoles it's available on, with the Xbox 360 and PS3 selling 335,000 and 274,000 units respectively. The former records belonged to Halo 3 with 266,000 and GT5: Prologue with 80,000 units sold on day one.

The "official" Chart-Track sales data will release on May 6, with the current data being based on electronic point of sale and retailer estimates. We're still waiting for Take-Two to send out a press release trumpeting its global success.

I'm very interested to see U.S. sales.

I havent seen any trailers, read any reviews and have only seen a handful of screenshot, but I have to say "I need this game". Through word of mouth and my experience of previous GTAs, I know I am going to love it. Its just a shame I have given up on consoles (After owning/selling all current consoles) in favour of PC gaming. I am really regretting it right now. *Cries*

Yeah its a bit of a though wait, but then you wont regret it when you get the pc version with no bugs and the best graphics, and mouse and keyboard controls, and probably even cheaper than the console version

Was playing for a little while earlier today and decided that i wanted to take a spin in a cop car. So I dial up 911 on the mobile, a cop car turns up and proceeds to drive past me and turn round at the bottom of the street.. as its turning round it hits some bins and stuff that are piled up and flips upside down. The cop gets out of the car, calmly walks over to another car parked next to the kerb. Then he smashes the window, unlocks the door, climbs in and hotwires it.. then he speeds off down the street. Made me giggle :D

Snow Storm?

Easy grab the health and armor, storm out gun the 3 NOOSE that rush you. The the two in the outermost room, run through hole in fence, then jump in water. Swim to your right to the Jetmax(fastest boat in game) and head to open waters.

Just over halfway down with the main story (they say main story is 68& and I'm sitting at 37%). So I should get that achieve to complete the main story in less than 30 hours then I'll go back and do the rest of the stuff. Got a **** ton of money.

I'd did something rather entertaining today, I climbed a large tower in the fuel yard(?) at the Airport and started to snipe people to get a wanted level. The cops climbed the ladder to get to me and as soon as they reach the top I just kicked them in the face and watch them plummet to the ground. Or wait until there's a good few of them climbing the ladder then slide down the ladder knocking them all off!

An idea for those who want the achievement for the 6 star cop rating. The easy way. I was just screwin around and I found how to do this.

After you unlock the big island (I cant remember the name off hand) go down to the heli tours area and grab a heli. Then, fly over the next island, it is instant 6 star wanted level, then just fly around for 5 minutes, until you get the achievement. Boom, easy 40g.

On a side note...the Deconstruction for Beginners mission is really ****ing me off.

In the mission where you decide to either kill Playboy X or Dwayne, kill Playboy. You get his flat as a safehouse. Then change clothes, and you can wear the outfit from GTAIII ;)

Just completed that mission, going to have to try that out. I also did "Under The Radar" as I was getting this, just be careful some of those bridges are awfully close to the water and it's hard to manuver a Heli below them.

I just did that also, and was going to come post about it.

Hardest mission I had to do to date, was "Three Leaf Clover". First mission I'm having problems with. Thought I would have it last time I did it, but I drop a grenade at my feet and it killed me. :(

Maybe MADD should target REAL LIFE drink drivers, not pixels on a fricking screen. Showing your priorities right there you bunch of complete morons.

If I were Rockstar I'd reply to half of these idiots in the same way Piratebay responds to legal claims against their website - With complete mockery.

i totally agree! , cause anyone to complains about this sorta stuff in a game is crossing the line as it's a FRICKING GAME PEOPLE!, not real life. ;)

i agree here to as i to am waiting for the PC version (i have XBox360 version though) as i wont be able to fully enjoy the game til i play the PC version as it's aiming system on console even though it's better than previous ones the way it works like ducking behind stuff and then shooting, it's still to crappy feeling since without using free aim it cheapens the feel of the game when shooting at stuff... and even though u have the option to free aim in the consoles it's just to hard to aim quickly enough at stuff vs mouse which is MUCH easier.

i cant wait for the precision of the mouse on the pc version as shooting missions will be MUCH more fun then ;)

p.s. im fairly certain (at least for me) MAFIA 2 is going to be a better game ;) (cause i still prefer MAFIA 1 (on PC) over any of the previous GTA's prior to GTA4 (hell, in a way MAFIA 1 (from 2002 on PC) is still better than GTA4 is in a way although you can tell GTA4 is much more updated with todays technology etc etc)

Thank you I was upto this mission and it was giving me alot of greif. Your solution is great and helped me after 15 tries, to finish this mission.

Can anyone give me a hint on how to finish a few misssions?

I'm on the mission where you have to take out Dwayne's girlfriend and her new boyfriend, but you have a choice. I leave the girl alone, but, I can never catch up to the new boyfriend. How the hell do you catch him?, I'm also, on the mission for Brucie where you have to run down Lyle Revas, but I can't catch him either. :(

    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
    • The biggest issue in this version of Win 11 context menu, from usability standpoint, is the movable row with basic commands. Think of a car analogy...if You turn the week left the infotainment screen will move right and vice versa. With how it works now Microsoft made something forbidden in designing in any UI, software or hardware. I can't grasp who were the morons within Microsoft suggesting it was a good idea and gave it a green light.
    • LibreOffice 26.2.4 by Razvan Serea LibreOffice is the free power-packed Open Source personal productivity suite for Windows, Macintosh and Linux, that gives you six feature-rich applications for all your document production and data processing needs: Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Math and Base. Support and documentation is free from our large, dedicated community of users, contributors and developers. You, too, can also get involved! Choosing Between LibreOffice Still and LibreOffice Fresh: LibreOffice Still is a good choice if you value stability, a longer support cycle, and a more conservative approach to software updates. It's suitable for businesses and organizations where reliability and compatibility are crucial. LibreOffice Fresh is ideal if you're an enthusiast or an early adopter who wants to stay on the cutting edge of LibreOffice development and is willing to accept more frequent updates and occasional minor issues. Features: Writer is the word processor inside LibreOffice. Use it for everything, from dashing off a quick letter to producing an entire book with tables of contents, embedded illustrations, bibliographies and diagrams. The while-you-type auto-completion, auto-formatting and automatic spelling checking make difficult tasks easy (but are easy to disable if you prefer). Writer is powerful enough to tackle desktop publishing tasks such as creating multi-column newsletters and brochures. The only limit is your imagination. Calc tames your numbers and helps with difficult decisions when you're weighing the alternatives. Analyze your data with Calc and then use it to present your final output. Charts and analysis tools help bring transparency to your conclusions. A fully-integrated help system makes easier work of entering complex formulas. Add data from external databases such as SQL or Oracle, then sort and filter them to produce statistical analyses. Use the graphing functions to display large number of 2D and 3D graphics from 13 categories, including line, area, bar, pie, X-Y, and net - with the dozens of variations available, you're sure to find one that suits your project. Impress is the fastest and easiest way to create effective multimedia presentations. Stunning animation and sensational special effects help you convince your audience. Create presentations that look even more professional than the standard presentations you commonly see at work. Get your collegues' and bosses' attention by creating something a little bit different. Draw lets you build diagrams and sketches from scratch. A picture is worth a thousand words, so why not try something simple with box and line diagrams? Or else go further and easily build dynamic 3D illustrations and special effects. It's as simple or as powerful as you want it to be. Base is the database front-end of the LibreOffice suite. With Base, you can seamlessly integrate into your existing database structures. Based on imported and linked tables and queries from MySQL, PostgreSQL or Microsoft Access and many other data sources, you can build powerful databases containing forms, reports, views and queries. Full integration is possible with the in-built HSQL database. Math is a simple equation editor that lets you lay-out and display your mathematical, chemical, electrical or scientific equations quickly in standard written notation. Even the most-complex calculations can be understandable when displayed correctly. E=mc2. LibreOffice also comes configured with a PDF file creator, meaning you can distribute documents that you're sure can be opened and read by users of almost any computing device or operating system. • Amazon eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi system 2-pack is 27% off by Ivan Jenic The Amazon eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi system is currently $239.99 on Amazon for the 2-pack, down from $329.99. That's 27% off and $90 saved for a solid Wi-Fi solution that covers your entire home (purchase link down below). The 2-pack covers up to 4,000 square feet (372 square meters) and supports 100+ connected devices, which handles the vast majority of home setups without breaking a sweat. Wi-Fi 6E brings access to the 6 GHz band for lower latency across the network, and the 2.5 Gb Ethernet port supports gigabit+ internet plans if your ISP offers them. eero's TrueMesh technology handles traffic routing automatically, so you're not manually managing which devices connect to which node. You set up the entire thing through the eero app, and the entire process takes a few minutes. The system also receives automatic security updates in the background, so once you set it up, you don't have to worry about compatibility issues. If you're covering a larger home or want more nodes, the 3-pack is $329.99 and the 4-pack is $479.98, both at similar discount levels. It's worth mentioning that a newer model exists, which is likely the reason for the discount, but the Pro 6E is still perfectly capable hardware for most homes.
