Just about as clever as the post immediately above yours.

Clever or not, I don't have any virus related issues with my computers. Ha. ;)

Ya hotdog is also the same person who once said in a thread that he doesn't install updates, and wasn't using Sp2.

I have SP2, but I don't update, for reasons I'm not allowed to discuss here!

I use Avast! to scan for viruses on occasion, but I don't load it on boot or have it running when I'm not using it.

Personally, I think social engineering like phishing is more of a danger to most people than most malware.

I agree. Phising is much more dangerous, as giving out your credit card info to scammers can do damage, both online and offline. But remember that a virus is any program that does an unwanted effect. Theoretically, a virus would be something that launched Firefox on startup everytime I turned on my computer. It's unwanted, so it's a virus.

The point is, most viruses aren't really all that bad, just annoying. The real threats are trojan horses, phising and other data harvesting services.

With all that in mind, I do run AVG Free Edition, but that's it. Don't really need much more than that, as I've never had a virus, not even way back in the Win95/98 days.
