Open source, easy to use language, and still works today, there are a couple of hic-ups and problems with this but an expert can easily fix them, there are also down-sides like when loading the application messenger always has to been restarted, but this can also be fixed.

This source code lets you easily create your own Windows Live Messenger addons, it works with any latest version including 9.0 Beta without ANY Bugs, this is because it has hardly any features, and the features are poorly coded.

Edit: Please note this doesnt work on vista due to its security i think, won't let it inject into messenger even with admin rights.
