svnO.o
I've created a few DreamScene clips for fun using Adobe Premiere and because I wanted to use them. I've posted the links below for the dreamscenes (which are all in .wmv format). I got the vids from gametrailers.com and cut the scenes I enjoyed most. EDIT: The old links no longer work. You can still use them as reference to figure out which files you want. The location to the files are now at: http://archive.programming-designs.com/misc/dreamscene/ Note: For screenshots and latest dreamscenes click here. 4/9/2008 Update Tom Clancy: H.A.W.X - Download (37.2 mb, high quality, duration: 1 min, 2 sec) New Dreamscenes FF:Advent Children (Life Stream) - Download (14.6 mb, medium quality, duration: 24 sec) FF:Advent Children (Jenova sign/under water) - Download (3.25 mb, medium quality, duration: 5 sec) FF:Advent Children (Sephiroth in flames) - Download (5.10 mb, medium quality, duration: 9 sec) FF:Advent Children (Cloud vs Sephiroth Battle) - Download (101 mb, medium quality, duration: 2 min, 55 sec) Dreamscenes Gran Turismo 5: GT-TV GTR Segment - Download (8.9 mb, low quality, duration: 26 sec) Final Fantasy XIII Trailer - Download (42.1 mb, high quality, duration: 1 min,9 sec) Star Craft II (Marine being deployed scene) - Download (105 mb, high quality, duration: 2 min,56 sec) Star Craft II (Protoss vs Marines Epic Battle) - Download (88.2 mb, high quality, duration: 2 min,16 sec) Blood Cells (From Requiem: Bloodymare Trailer) - Download (3.96 mb, high quality, duration: 7 sec) Forza 2 Video (Pretty intense) - Download (25.2 mb, high quality, duration: 22 sec) Note: I didn't make the last one but thought I'd include it. Medking
not sure what its like with the SP1, but i know in the RTM they didnt exactly use up a lot of resources/memory, but there were noticeable differences in startup time and running normal applications, even with two cores....i personally found them troublesome, so dont use em, although im gonna try the GT one =] Edit. Very cool. Love it. Great Job Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/627326-vista-dreamscenes/#findComment-589292484 Share on other sites
Xerxes
Does anyone know if dreamscenes in general use up alot of the system resources/memory ? They shouldn't use too much, it suppose to be off loaded on to the GPU. I haven't really noticed much difference with DreamScene on or off to be honist and my GPU is hardly a powerhouse (8600GTS). Daxbash5000
for me it takes a chunk of performance but if i'm just surfing the web or idling on my desktop it's virtually unnoticeable- but like if i'm trying to play a game or play a video it's obvious. but then again, look at my stats (see sig) and you can probably understand why. User6060
its much lighter on resources if you use mpeg for your dreamscenes. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/627326-vista-dreamscenes/#findComment-589292543 Share on other sites
Burner.PT
Havent anybody noticed that dreamscene stops when you use the memory? So..........it?s OK to use it,it does uses resourses allright but minimum, and when you have to use the cpu memory it does stop(pause)the dreamscene. Want proof?Do a benchmark with and without the dremscene(the same results)and just takes to you to do a simple task(has opening I.E)it stops and resumes after you close the I.E,even navigating true the net it doesnt start.:pp Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/627326-vista-dreamscenes/#findComment-589300014 Share on other sites
AnJellyCue
Hey All, I am loving the Windows DreamScenes, they do use up a bit of memory with explorer.exe it will be at about 240mb used and with just a wallpaper it is about 70mb, I do have 4gb of ram and 2 nVidia GeForce 8800 in sli, so this lil machine can handle the load. does anyone know where else you can get the Windows DreamScene content ? svnO.o
Glad to see people are using the dream scene videos I created. I haven't been using my website for much of anything lately so figured I'd do something with all the extra bandwidth I have. If anyone has any requests for videos feel free to post a link/description of what you want and I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the feedback. svnO.o
Yeah Dreamscene isn't for everyone. I don't have Vista Ultimate so can't run dreamscape and am not willing to shell out the $$ for it. I've got a quad core and 2 GB of ram though which allows me to run dreamscene nicely. svnO.o
^ I meant DeskScapes instead of dreamscape (mis-worded). If you still don't understand: Dreamscene isn't for everyone because it can be CPU intensive. I am using the patch that allows me to run Dreamscene in a non-Ultimate version of Vista. DeskScapes (made by Stardock), I can't run because it requires Vista Ultimate (and AFAIK theres no way around it). DeskScapes 2, which is the beta, requires you to have purchased the $50 bundle by stardock and will run in non-Ultimate versions of Vista. Hope that un-confused you =) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/627326-vista-dreamscenes/#findComment-589301425 Share on other sites
airbornemist6
O.O I've never had problems with dreamscene, I only have a phenom 4gigs of ram and 2 geforce 9600s in sli, i don't see why it would be a problem for anyone... Yes, that was sarcasm, although, those are my specs. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/627326-vista-dreamscenes/#findComment-589301430 Share on other sites
zhangm Supervisor Posted March 30, 2008 Supervisor Share Posted March 30, 2008 Pretty cool captures. Its nice to have actual dreamscenes instead of that Stardock branded crap.
