Does "minimal UI changes" involve fixing the search button on the bar in the taskbar when Windows classic is the visual style?

If so, that'll make it pretty sweet!

Really not sure. I actually wasn't really involved in this release, so I'm not up on all the details. The main changes I'm familiar with are some of the query performance increases and some cool new SQL stuff for developers.

Fair enough, what's the recommended way that I can contact them to report this bug?

Outlook removed message removal from index better be working this time. What's the point of a damn search engine if it finds stuff long deleted ago (deleted as in gone forever, not moved to trash).

That's never been a known issue with Windows Search / WDS. It's been a problem with some competitors, mainly Google who said "it's not a bug, it's a feature!"

Unless a whole bunch of stuff changes at once, the indexer is always kept up-to-date, and deletes should always be processed pretty much instantly. The only exception might be on battery power, depending on your power profile.

Ooh, I'll have to try this at work tomorrow. My Vista/Outlook 2007 machine has multiple Outlook profiles (for multiple Exchange accounts over disparate domains with RPC/HTTPS), and the Indexer v3 seems to be very choosy as to which profile it indexes. I'd thought it was the first, alphabetically, but I'm not so sure any more after it switched one day and I couldn't figure out why. Hopefully that's fixed, but even if not (and I'll admit my configuration is a fringe case), performance improvements are always welcome! :)

Is this the ill fated "Casino" or "One View"? Or is that project dead as a dodo?

"Casino" was mainly a research / prototype project. This release contains mainly improvements to the desktop indexer, and the other features/fixes described above.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
    • I guess we are done since you refuse to read my comment you replied to or my other comment in another thread you were also a part of here.
    • I hate Slack, but Teams is much worse - maybe they've already optimized it, but it was a huge slog the last time I've checked about half a year ago. I miss my Skype.
    • Just ended up switching to Ubuntu. Not sure why I waited.
