this looks very interesting, i actually like it alot since most vista vs's are mostly the same

might a suggest some things?

1. make a vista flag

2. keep the vista buttons, they look nice !

3. keep the taskbar that size, its a very good balance

also, where can i get a working, safe uxtheme patch for my SP1? :D cheers

Glad you like it.

The only safe way is to do it yourself. Download the dlls from withinwindows, take ownership of the original dlls and give yourself full permission, rename them to uxtheme.dll.bak themeui.dll.bak and svcshs.dll.bak then extract the patched ones. You'll probably need to stop the themes service while you do this though, the start it again once your done. You'll also need to reboot afterwards.

very nice, if you added some old skool aqua scroll bars and hd-gages i think it would be killer. also i think some aqua max/min buttons are in order but you said those are temp.

keep up the good work (Y)

Wont be adding aqua stuff since its Leopard not Tiger. Trying to be consistent.

Thats real nice man, clean and smooth. Actually makes Vista look pretty decent without all the transparency. Keep up the work but I think a version with the semi-transparent taskbar would be a nice touch. But don't overuse the transparency looks ace the way it is. Also remember the windows get a bright gray when inactive.

Also as much as you don't want to add any aqua elements Leopard still uses many of them, such as scrollbars, radio buttons, checkboxes, and progress bars. Although if you take a look at iTunes you should find an alternative that would match the Leopard style.

Also remember the windows get a bright gray when inactive.

Yeah, I had it like that at first, but the vista theming engine sucks and you cant change the sides and bottom of the borders for inactive windows, so it looked stupid with light titlebar and dark borders.

I have a question about this theme...is this an aero only version theme or can vista basic only users also use this? if non aero-supported cards can't run this you should think about making a vista basic version as I'd love to use this as my primary theme...just a suggestion though since I dont see any types of transparencies from the screenshot with this theme. keep up the good work :)

Looks really nice, although the black borders are a bit too... black, let's say. If you could make those a dark grey, it'd be much better.

The Leopard window borders are actually the same color grey as the window toolbars, etc. on the outer border, a light grey on the inner border, then the toolbars you have now, but I'm not sure how easy that would be to implement in an msstyle.

When finished it will work for both aero and basic.

Screenshot looks great. Somehow you nailed it for Explorer's toolbar. (Y)

Question: I noticed in all your themes you killed off the shadows, possibly to make it seamless between the basic and Aero variants of a VS. Would it be possible to put them back into this one, seeing how there are shadows and smooth edges for Leopard windows?

    • Yes for me, I installed 'old calculator' (Windows 7 calculator) in its place since it is more useful to me. I think paint is the only one I left installed
    • eh I'll wait for the June 2026 MVS ISO downloads which should be coming out next Tuesday June 16 and possibly contain build 8655 instead of 8653
