I want to use the PS3 as a Desktop PC

People seem to forget what an 400 ~ 600$ PC can do ... you get an nice case, core2duo and hefty GPU for that money.

It really isn't that expensive...

There are 2 reasons why PS3 sucks at being an PC:

1: No ram .. when you run the linux option you barely get 256MB of usable memory. This is by no way enough by modern standards (even in the linux world)

2: PPC architecture ... most software is designed on the x86 / x86-64 platform .. running it on the PPC architecture can require more work to be done to make it work. Not everyone knows how...
