Youth sentenced for girl's murder

Mark King-Bromley

Mark King-Bromley stabbed and battered Danielle with a brick

A 17-year-old youth who "brutally" stabbed and battered his ex-girlfriend to death in north London has been sentenced to life at the Old Bailey.

Danielle Johnson, 17, was beaten with a brick and repeatedly stabbed behind garages in Palmerston Road, Wood Green, in May 2007.

Mark King-Bromley, from Palmers Green, north London, admitted murder.

In a statement Danielle's father Wesley Johnson said the sentence will not be able to "null the pain of our loss".

Mark King-Bromley was ordered to serve a minimum of 12 years.

The court heard King-Bromley, who was in a new relationship but was still having sex with Danielle, attacked her after a row because he thought she was "harassing" him.

Danielle Johnson was in a relationship with Mark King-Bromley

She died in hospital 11 days later from chest and head injuries.

Mr Johnson said Danielle's siblings, four brothers and a baby sister, are "still grieving" a year since the "brutal" attack.

"The years given to the defendant are just a number. No amount of years will be able to null the pain of our loss," he said.

"Danielle will never come back to us no matter how many years given to the guilty. The only consolation is that the guilty person is behind bars for a long time."

Sentencing the youth Judge Stephen Kramer said: "This was a terrible and brutal outburst of violence using a weapon you had deliberately taken with you with tragic consequences.

"You could not cope with what you perceived as harassment from Danielle and you could suppress your anger no longer."

Might want to get yourself checked out, you may have caught something.

Makes my 'blood boil' when I see nonsensical sentences like that ...

During those 12 years he will be beaten raped beaten raped raped again raped again and did I say rape?

And what sort of person will that make him to be back in society in 12 years?

Exactly I do not agree with our system of "correcting society" But it is indeed punishment.

I am friends with a murderer. That's right, a friend. He did a horrible thing (carried gun to a fist fight and used it) and is now serving 15 years for the crime. I even put some money in his canteen fund every couple of months. He gets out in 9 years. I would have understood if he had gotten the death penalty (it was on the table). A bad decision does not make a bad person.

maybe, but murder is murder... cause it just aint worth taking a risk with someone who is willing to kill someone for basically no reason... self defense is one thing but just shooting someone just for some petty crap is just wrong and should be punished severely.

if he gets out in 12 years i think that's quite easy considering he just flat out murdered someone.

p.s. it's sad when someone can get more prison time for selling drugs than murder or rape :(

The typical process means he would first be elegible for parole in 12 years. Doesn't mean hes going to get it, which he most likely wont.

I'm amazed so many people aren't aware how the criminal justice system works.

He will probably get out after 25 years, seeing that he has good behavior. If not forget about him ever being released.

Same here.

He may be the one doing the raping though :(

hes not coming back in 12 years, hes sentenced to life. Reread.

You re-read :p

You are in the US which has a differet law system to the UK, so what oyu said is not 100% accurate.

In the UK, life is 15 years and/or less. He has to serve a minimum of 12, which means he will probably be back in the community within 6 years, with a tag on his leg or simply under house arrest.

He could end up in an open prison, which means he will be out through the day and back in the prison at night. Which basically means he will be given free food and shelter and be allowed to do what he likes through the day.

The UK justice system works more in the favour of the criminal and not the good people.

We need to bring back capital punishment - the reason these things happen is because people aren't afraid of consequences anymore. These people have no worth-while life out of jail - so they don't see much of a problem spending a chunk of it in jail. Simple. I'm not saing prison is necessarily and easy ride - but it might as well be in his case seeing as what he's done.

Exactly. It also frustrates me, because i know someone who was a great family man with a great job. he saw someone being knifed and watched and called the police.

The police asked if he would give statments and be a witness in court, and he said yes. However, 2 days later he was arrested and put in jail for 6 months and now has a criminal record, because he didnt try to stop the person from being stabbed :s

Whilst in jail the police asked if he would still give evidence in court and he refused. They tried to do a deal with him of letting him out after 3 months, but he said that was blackmail and they had ruined his life for no good reason anyway.

His wife left him and took the kids, he lost his job because of his record and became almost homeless. That is how the law system works in the UK.

that's AWFUL.

Remember that this is Britain. Our law is seriously f***ed up. You never serve the term you're sentenced to, and if you're famous, you serve even less and get more privileges in prison (Pete Doherty, for example).

There must be more to it than that, they don't just arrest people for not intervening in a crime otherwise they would be arresting 100's of people if something like a murder happened in a park or high street with lots of people. Also, whilst I can understand his resentment I don't really see how not giving evidence, which could result in someone that goes around stabbing peole to be jailed, does anything but harm to everyone.

so there are no murders in the USA? ;)

What you are stating as facts has no real backing at all
