XerXis
Frankenstein 1931 http://www.video-palace.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=159 My rating: 8/10 Still the best frankenstein movie ever made, imho. I've just seen the DVD (the last time i saw it was still in the VHS era) and man, it still rocks! Very beautiful restored too! The atmosphere in this movie is so tense, so glooming, I love it! Agreed, classic 10/10 flick! I find watching the 1931 version so much more authentic and realistic compared to the later remakes. This goes for the King Kong as well. XerXis
yeah both the remakes of frankenstein and kingkong suffer from the technological advancements that were made by the time the films were produced. They wanted to be better and bigger than the original and thought that special effects were the way to accomplish that. Always start with a good dialogue and story, special effects are there to help your storytelling not the other way around Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/633405-frankenstein/#findComment-589356159 Share on other sites

grid001
Young Frankenstein was funny but that is a very different type of film. haha yea, Young Frankenstein is one of my favourites as well. But your right it achieved a uniqueness on its own level. It still appeals to me from a classic stand point.
