USB hub and PS3 (40GB)

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I've finally at that stage where only having 2 USB ports on the PS3 is getting in the way. (a.k.a just bought the Rock Band :) )

Rock Band is using 2 ports, so I have to replug cables to charge controller, not to mention possibility of external HDD and another hard wired 360 guitar (with dongle obviously).

So my question is this: does PS3 play well with a third party USB splitter? If I plug in multiple things into it will it pick and distinguish them all (obviously assuming PS3 is compatible with them to begin with)?

I'm thinking about this Belkin hub (or similar).

Thanks for the help, everyone.

Been asked before

I knew I'm gonna get that reply :) and I am sorry about this, but I honestly can't find a Forum Search link anywhere. I must be going blind or insane... or both.

any usb will work ;)

Thanks!

Yes, this is a redundant thread, as I myself had asked this question once before. I am using an old USB 1.1 hub and it works fine. Well..... that brings me to the reason for posting here.

My hub, as it seems, only works properly if plugged into the PS3 after the PS3 is "on". If I leave the hub connected all the time, and switch from standby to on, the devices plugged into that hub are not recognized. If I plug the hub into the PS3 after the PS3 is already on and not in standby, everything works fine.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Any ideas on solutions?
