The fact is, when you capture genius, freedom, and free market principals and intertwine it with Neowinian journalism you get something new. Literally, Neowin is a philosophy of it's own.

Truly, it is radicalism in its essence. It is literally anarchy of the human mind, clearing of the road blocks, the mind on haywire, taking the best ideas, and therefore being the definition of avante garde.

The users of this site basically run it. Sure, they're mods and admins, but a lot of the genius comes from the posts here. This is the power of the masses. Literally, the smartest forums on the net.

To extol the virtues of Neowinian thought is literally something that requires peer reviews by PhD's in philosophy and the rest of the liberal arts.

Neowin doesn't have fanboys.

Yeah right. :p

But, to be honest, I think Neowin has matured as a community. When I first joined Neowin I was a massive noob and I was not the exception. I think over time the real core of Neowin users has matured to what we have today.

But, of course, people still have strong opinions. I don't think anyone would call me a "fanboy" even though I strongly encourage the use of free software and sometimes drop in passive notes about where and why companies are restricting your freedom. But it's not like I go into every Windows thread and type "windoze sux".

So I think "fanboys" or "people with opinions" exist, but we have matured :)

Neowin is a good example of why I love to use forums.

Ah, other forums. What's the point of having a community where the minority of people can't express their opinion? There is no progress, only stagnant fanboy-ism and piety. Nothing more than cheering the heroes and booing the villains.

Neowin doesn't have fanboys. There are no white knights that step in to defend the administration if they are criticized.

Administrators here love critique, they love to listen and improve. That is why neowin is so great. And I find it unique that a forum is like that.

Also the moderators on staff have historically been very fair and understanding. They are staunch and liberal and I'm surprised to see that their is almost no censorship here.

Very often is their any deleting here. Nor moving. It's simply a warning just in case it were to happen.

This forum is a haven of intellectual progress by far. Surpassing any educational institution I have seen.

Neobond we should be paying YOU tuition.

Neowin did have fanboys (they were warned harshly) and still does in some sense. They may be fanboys on other forums but here they know to watch themselves and their comments more closely.

More often than not (in what I have seen), posts are locked rather than being deleted. I have in numerous cases, used the alert button to send a message to mods about a certain post. In those cases, mods have always stepped in to go through each post individually and clear out the flames/crap posts and leave the original discussion. That painstaking process has not gone unnoticed so kudos to our mods here.

Finally the fact that just the other day, I was able to send a private message to Neobond and have a conversation with him like anybody else, just goes to show that whether or not they are a mod/admin/etc., they are still people and care about the well being of their site.

Congrats Neowin.

    • Can you read? I've said I'm willing to pay more for a notchless (no notch) 3:2 screen.
    • Not even an OLED display on the laptops. Also it seems that the laptop design isn't the same as the Surface Ultra model. Looks like bargain bin at high prices.
    • make your own notch - it's not that hard
    • VirtualBox 7.2.10 by Razvan Serea VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software. Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x and 6.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, OpenBSD, NetBSD and FreeBSD. Some of the features of VirtualBox are: Modularity. VirtualBox has an extremely modular design with well-defined internal programming interfaces and a client/server design. This makes it easy to control it from several interfaces at once: for example, you can start a virtual machine in a typical virtual machine GUI and then control that machine from the command line, or possibly remotely. VirtualBox also comes with a full Software Development Kit: even though it is Open Source Software, you don't have to hack the source to write a new interface for VirtualBox. Virtual machine descriptions in XML. The configuration settings of virtual machines are stored entirely in XML and are independent of the local machines. Virtual machine definitions can therefore easily be ported to other computers. • OK, now ask yourself how are they going to enforce that law? By requiring every single adult to prove their age and provide their legal identity documents to an UNREGULATED 3rd party company that already has a long track record of multiple data breaches. Not to mention, parliament have voted AGAINST this ban, twice, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. So, where's the democracy here, because that looks like dictatorship to me. The solution here is parental responsibility, not government control. Run some public service announcements on TV and UK social media teaching parents how to setup parental controls. That's already been proven to actually work. But the, this is not and has NEVER been about keeping kids safe. It's about control and monitoring. Watching what you're doing online and controlling what you can see and what you can say.
