I find this very hard to believe.. if you know how a hand-held radar unit works..

How far away was this "jet" and how fast was it traveling, there is no way the hand-held radar was close enough and pointed directly at the jet while it was moving.

These speed radars don't "lock on" to anything, they send out a signal, which is bounced back to the unit and the response time is reported that equals the speed. Once the unit triggered and gets a result, it is off at that point. There is no way they "locked on" to a hand held radar unit. There is a large difference between active radar and passive. And also these hand-held units have a very small cone at which the radars can travel from and back into.

While the story is amusing, and kind of funny, it isn't possible..... IMHO

Very very flawed argument structure, and mostly false to boot. Most of this could have theoretically happened, except that jets flying over Europe probably do not have radar jamming turned on.

You might want to study up on how fighter jet's radar locking systems work, not saying you are wrong, but points in your argument arn't completely correct

The story fail when they say that the missile where going to launch automatically.

In peace time, I can't believe that weapons can be armed automatically no matter the circumstances.

And a hand radar to lock on a Jet?

Oh well, a joke is a joke :p

Since when Sidewinders are air to ground missiles? Sidewinder are air to air Infrared missiles that lock on heat sources.

Why would a Dutch pilot fly a Tornado? There are no Tornados in the Dutch air force and I doubt that the RAF would offer rides on their aircrafts.

If there was indeed an exercise with aircraft and their weapons payload, is the RAF not wise enough to conduct these kind of exercise far away from anything civilian, including a highway?

How much range does a speed radar has? around half a mile ...

If you ask me, the Scottish police needs better radars: the ones they use break down too easily and the RAF needs to polish their excuses so that they are at least plausible

they lock on in the sense that, if your standing infront of me, and i shout in your area, you know generally where i will be...

(you being the aircraft, and me being the gun)

    • I know I won't ever be using it to make my game. I'd rather pay real humans.
    • Nah. For every indie dev that needs to create code for "stuff" or textures, it's a godsend enabler to possibly tackle a project that you may not otherwise. The end result and testing will tell the truth if everything works or doesn't, or a game is just mediocre slop, but now these tools are now there and it's the developer's duty to judge the outcome, and even more so for pro studios. And you gotta remember that they will be at an early stage.
    • whoosh my comment went over your head. Enjoy your notchless 3:2 OLED device
    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.
