When members were naughty, we sometimes used to set it so that we had to approve each of their posts, there are around 2.5k of these that never got approved.

but once approved, do they add as a new post, or were they actually posts in threads, just not visible?

If they are waiting inside another database, and once approved, they add a new entry to the actual database, they wouldn't technically be posts...

?????????

?????????

There can be multiple databases right?

They may of split actual visible posts that anyone can read into one database, and have another one for "naughty" members.

When the naughty member tries to make a post, it gets submitted to a separate database, waiting for approval. Once approved, the entry is copied to the real database, and deleted from the temporary one.

So once they are approved, it would add as a new post.

Yes that is what I thought.

Hmmm, then that means that we would have already passed the 8 million mark if they had approved the posts...

Depends how it is set up.

If they approve all 2.5K now (unlikely) it will shoot to 8,002,500 posts.

But we have a lot of deleted posts over the few years... so my bet is that the total at the bottom of the page will not equal up to the actual database count.

Yeah, and I have another 8 thousand posts I can't currently account for!

my suggestion would be moved forums? You guys did shuffle the forum around, maybe some posts got lost in translation

I really hope one of the admins accidentally deletes this thread near the 8 mil mark just to see all of your reactions. It should have been properly earned, not by 1000 pages of spam.

the total still stays as it sits... so it won't effect anything :p

Remember all those people who come and spam, which are quickly reported & deleted by mods, the forum total stays at that count... It will never go down.

    • I know I won't ever be using it to make my game. I'd rather pay humans.
    • Nah. For every indie dev that needs to create code for "stuff" or textures, it's a godsend enabler to possibly tackle a project that you may not otherwise. The end result and testing will tell the truth if everything works or doesn't, or a game is just mediocre slop, but now these tools are now there and it's the developer's duty to judge the outcome, and even more so for pro studios. And you gotta remember that they will be at an early stage.
    • whoosh my comment went over your head. Enjoy your notchless 3:2 OLED device
    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.
