Windows Vista SP1 outperforms Windows XP SP2 in file copy

I suppose that assumption doesn't include load times or search times of course - you know, the thing that Vista is known for in comparison to XP.

ZeroLogic - I'm proud of you man. If you switch back, no one should give you any grief. I am just full of praise for anyone who keeps an honest open mind and doesn't use testing purposes to just find more reasons to stand on their xp argument.

Due to the nature in which multi processor systems require specific support to take advantage of all the hardware, it's not exactly a comparable situation. Purely for software efficiency, XP is far superior. There is a reason Vista requires more than 1 GB ramwhile XP can run happily on 512.

I have a computer with 768 MB of RAM that Vista Home Basic is running "happily" on. Care to try again?

Vista uses a completely different indexing service, of course searching is faster. As far as load times go, I don't know about you but from my experiences Vista was as much as two times slower at loading and shutting down than XP.

No. Happily may mean one thing to you and another to me.

Ive been running Winows Vista Business RTM on a Dell P4 3.0Ghz w/ 512MB of RAM. Few hicks here and there but overall i can run Firefox with either Flash/Dreamweaver/Photoshop CS3 before it starts to slow down a lot. Other wise for browsing and everyday use with Office, Pictures, Music its fine!

Meh.

Some time ago my Windows XP installation totally exploded. It became completely useless. After backing up all my stuff, I had to choose between installing XP or Vista.

The choice was relatively simple. I installed Vista on my computer, and I'm happy with it. I don't feel like going back to XP. Sure, there are some quirks here and there, but that's what the whole Windows family is all about and I came to accept it.

For me Vista wins the "fight". I don't care if several things are slower than in XP. Vista just feels snappier and more solid.

Copying is slower? Fine, I'll just get my guitar out, or drink some tea. Deal with it.

If your computer isn't capable of running Vista, you shouldn't install Vista and most certainly shouldn't bash Vista. I can run Vista and I'm happy, no matter what some statistics say.

    • EA reached out to our reporter that mainly does gaming content and reviewed loads of other games, why would this be shocking to anyone? I admit maybe we were considered this time around because of the extra coverage UFC was getting and they wanted a broader audience for this release? IDK. I can tell you that we aren't paid to do the reviews, the fun part of it is (mostly) being able to keep what we review and giving an honest opinion on what we're reviewing.
