Hurmoth
AT&T Webpage Leaks Black iPhone? [update: iPhone Announcement Soon?] AppleInsider has noted that AT&T's website for existing users now has an option for a black iPhone. There have been rumors that Apple's upcoming 3G iPhone would come with a glossy black back (1, 2). While there have also been some reported image leaks as well, the authenticity of such images remains highly doubtful. Update: According to one report from the forum thread, Apple's online retail staff is indicating that news about the iPhone may be forthcoming in the next week. Whether this pertains to the current iPhone availability shortage or if it indicates a 3G iPhone announcement is uncertain. Typically retail staff are not told about upcoming announcements until immediately beforehand, however the iPhone shortage may have prompted a change from that procedure. The rumors are pouring in now. Looks like it will be soon. Julius Caro
Spending a lot of money? You do realize that the iPhone's plan includes unlimited data, right? My plant is $60/month and I download a ton of ****.Same here. Turn it on only when you are using it would be a huge benefit to the device for battery life. I'm talking about spain, and anyway, I'm referring to 'roaming data usage', which I believe iphone plans doesn't include. In Spain, orange phones had the web browser launcher programmed into the 'right' button on some mobiles, the same button that is used to go 'back'. So when people wanted to reach the stand-by screen, they would press back repeatedly, only that in the stand-by screen, the function of the button would be that of opening the web browser. Even by opening it and closing it quickly, customers were charged, and the possibility of changing the button's function was conveniently disabled. So a phone warning the user about accidental 'costly' stuff is news for me :p you realise ALL 3G phones allow this right... I'm talking about the 'disable data roaming', not about disabling 3G all along. My phone is 3G and I can't recall it having such a function. kingpunk
ACTUALLY, allow me to speculate here: 1. apple's website currently says that shipping for the iphone's are currently unavailable. (?) 2. AT&T's website, lists an Iphone "BLACK" under the model/device drop-down on their site (slipup?) 3. apple releases products on tuesdays, alsmot always! 4. It's rumored that at the WWDC apple will be releasing a "better" mobile device, called an iTablet? It's said to be a multi-touch multimedia/pda device with a size about 1.5x of the current-generation (as of today) iPhone. Weigh the facts as you may, but personally I say that D-Day is upon us. We'll see a new iPhone tomorrow. Personally, Im thinking that it'll be the 3g iPhone that we've all been thinking about. Good thing that I just ended the auction of my iPhone on ebay :shiftyninja: ..What do you guys think about my assumptions? Julius Caro
I don't think 3G would cost the user any more than EDGE or GPRS. I should've been clearer, lol. I was talking about iphone letting you disable just the data transfers when in 3G. I dont think my phone has that option, and if it does it sure as hell doesnt say YOU MAY SAVE MONEY! Julius Caro
2. AT&T's website, lists an Iphone "BLACK" under the model/device drop-down on their site (slipup?) According to gizmodo, AT&Ts has said that it was a place holder for the diffent iphone configurations (4g, 8g, 16g?). Although I'm not buying it. What I think is, it's actually the iphone2. Although, apple wouldn't call it iphone2, just iphone, and it would replace the previous one. And AT&T wouldnt refer to it as iPhone 2G (as is tradition with ipods...) since it is.. well.. 3G. So their only choice is to call it ipod black, because it's black!! I think that we're both 1/2 correct. I would venture to say that they're going to launch a new product line. Some subsided and some not. Current gen iphones will be deeply discounted and be called "silver" and they'll have "black" ones. Maybe white ones too. (Kinda how the ipod-nano lineup is currently.) I guess apple's website will tell the tale tomorrow, won't they? -KingPunk Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/636376-3g-iphone-preference-found-in-beta-5-firmware/page/2/#findComment-589395538 Share on other sites
