Clients Windows Hosts old entry rename via Windows2003 Active directoy

My windows Hosts file is look like this.

In this I need put a # entry in front of 192.168.100.246 IP address

(#192.168.100.246 DRHub). Basically I need to bypass of reading

192.168.100.246 DRHub. Other entries should remain as it is. Can you

all help me to give a script (batch file or vb script) because I need

apply this 500 computers via Active Directory. Thanks in advance

Why would you do it like this??? This is the exact reason why WINS and DNS is deployed.

You need admin rights to right to the hosts file so a user logon script won't be able to do it. you may be able to do it with a computer based vbs/wsh script assigned by gpo. I would just write a script to copy a correct version of the hosts file from a network location rather than a more complex one that edits the file.

I would look into removing all the entries from the hosts file anyway and using a more suitable name resolution method instead.
