Captain America: The First Avenger (July 2011)

Wow, Chris Evans huh? (Sorry, I'm obviously a bit lagging on this thread!)

Last movie I watched him in was "London". Pretty good movie, he was good in it, but I could never picture him as Cap. Looks like he at least bulked up.

The cover of Empire Magazine will feature this heroic image of Captain America and the issue will include more new images of Chris Evans as the star spangled Avenger. It will also feature quotes from director Joe Johnston and Marvel President Kevin Feige.

Here's what Feige had to say,

Scripts had been developed that took place half in World War Two, half in the modern day and none of those scripts were particularly successful because the costume ended up overshadowing the man. So we finally said, ?If we could make a Captain America movie any way we wanted to make it, how would we make it?? Well, we?d set the entire movie in the past, in that period, with all of the Marvel trimmings. And so we made the fun, kick-ass Captain America movie we wanted to.

Well, that's exactly how I envisioned Captain America being portrayed on film, which is one of the reasons I'm so freakin' excited about this movie. Johnston went on to tell Empire,

I?ve always loved Raiders and the tone that it had. It was period but didn?t feel like it was made in the period. It felt like a modern-day film about the period, which is what we?re doing on Captain America. It will not feel like a war movie. It?s funny where it needs to be and emotional where it needs to be and serious and full of action.

Evans then goes on to to talk about the character he's playing, and how he's not just an American hero,

I think he?s the ideal human, not just American. It?s what being a good person is. Steve?s managed to overcome all the shortcomings he?s had in life and he does what?s good and what he believes is right.

The film also stars, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Haley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Toby Jones and Neal McDonough. The film is set to be unleashed on July 22nd, 2011.

They also talked to to Chris Evans about how many films he'd play as Cap

"To be honest," he says in a quote translated back from French, "it was quite intimidating to commit to nine films in a row. Thankfully, we reduced the number to six... If all goes as planned, I will be playing Captain America until I'm 40."

you seem to be alone then as everyone on superherohype is pretty happy right now. you seemed to be against this movie from the start, why?

I like to be different, I dont ride the hype train on a movie because its a massive well known comic book star. I watched it (a few times actually) and while it looks action packed some of the stuff in it looks kinda corny and lame...Red Skull looks like he's wearing a halloween mask and if the humor at the end is whats going to be in it then they might as well of cast Ryan Reynolds.

Thor looks different on the other hand, directed by a man who knows how to tell a story a long time Shakespearean actor who knows Thor is like a massive play.

Yea I dunno what Rappy is on. I think it looks totally ****ing awesome. Evans is going to be epic.

Joking aside. It looks pretty bad. I don't think Skull is brutal I'm kinda glad its not a CGI face. However for its first official trailer this is quite the fail. Just senseless ****. They really should try and tell a story with the trailer, why do we want to see this? I have yet to be convinced this is anything less than the same old trash. I'll go see it since its a new Marvel film and I'm semi looking forward to Avengers, but I can't say I'm eager to see this. Thor on the other hand, very much so. It's first trailer explained what the movie was about in less than 2 minutes. Crappy Cappy, I can't say the same for.

Btw, the reason Rappy dislikes it so much is because they didn't cast Jon Hamm, he would have been perfect. Sure he's a little older, but look what they did to Jeff Bridges in Tron Legacy. They could easily make Hamm look slightly younger, no need to overkill like they needed for in Tron. Although having seen the pre-cappy Evans. Their special effects team clearly sucks.

    • Just the price of doing business. The scamble to pull as much from the web as possible is happening, and it's happening before a case like this changes how or what is legal do to with AI in terms of data harvesting. But even then as we've seen with the likes of Google who ignore cookie requests and just accept the fact they'll get fined, it's built into their business price model now. AI is here, its not going away. Their reward if any from the court case would be best suited to trying to incorprate AI or licence their end points as authentic human verified content. The problem is, as we've seen these same news papers are using AI themselves.

    • This Chinese company is reportedly developing a feature Apple and Samsung can only dream of by Hamid Ganji While companies like Apple and Samsung have been relatively conservative with their devices’ battery capacities in recent years, Chinese manufacturers have taken the competition to the next level by introducing significantly larger batteries. However, the latest report from China suggests that a local company may already be developing a smartphone with a whopping 14,000mAh battery. Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station claimed on Weibo that a smartphone maker is developing a device with a 14,000mAh battery. If true, it would be the largest battery ever used in a smartphone and could, in theory, provide up to a week of battery life on a single charge. The leaker did not reveal the name of the company behind the device, but there are some clues. This week, HONOR unveiled the X80 Pro Max in China with an 11,000mAh battery and 90W wired charging support. The company also launched the Honor Win in January, which packs a 10,000mAh battery. HONOR, a former subsidiary of Huawei, has a proven track record of developing smartphones with unusually large batteries. However, other Chinese brands, including Xiaomi, have also launched devices such as the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max with 7,500mAh batteries. Though Chinese users on Weibo also believe the company behind the new battery is HONOR. Interestingly, Digital Chat Station said the device with the 14,000mAh battery weighs around 220 grams, making it lighter than the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max (233 grams) and slightly heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra (214 grams). The iPhone 17 Pro Max currently packs a 5,088mAh battery in eSIM-only versions, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra features a 5,000mAh battery. Neither device is expected to see a dramatic increase in battery capacity in its next-generation successor. So when it comes to battery comparison, Chinese brands are unbeaten. HONOR smartphones are currently available in the EU, but the Chinese brand has no official presence in the United States due to restrictions imposed by the U.S. government.
