Hate the CGI or not there was no real choice in it, the movie doesn't have the time to wait for him to lose all the mass and become that skinny (not to mention it's a huge health risk) and then wait for him to get it all back, no way. I mean look how buff he is, that sorta extremes on your body, he wouldn't make it imo, not trying to force it in time for the movies schedule.
