Hi All,

At the request of one of our members, I've put together a quick script that will enable you to produce thumbnail images on the fly, intended for use on these forums. A lot of people who insert images into posts don't always appreciate the extra time it puts on the end user to download these large images. Rappy knows what I mean :p

So, I present the aptly named 'Image Thumbnailer', which given the URL of your source image, and a few additional options, will produce a thumbnail image, and the appropriate BBCode for you to insert it into your post.

E.g., the lovely Reina Tanaka

098.jpg

Would produce the following:

098.jpg&width=100&height=100&border=0&borderColour=

Currently, the service restricts usage to requests that have been referred from Neowin (operating a whitelist).

In the future I might consider opening it up for other sites too.

Let me know what you think.

View: Image Thumbnailer

Update: Now enforces that aspect ratio is maintained.

Fix: Alpha channel transparencies are persisted into thumbnail.
