Well, I just thought about posting an update for you guys. I've been procrastinating BlueSE a lot lately due to school and other projects.

I've just decided that I'll be finishing BlueSE off when this school year has ended for me, which means over a month. I'm not planning on overhauling the current graphics/mockups. If I work on it a bit everyday I could probably finish it within 2 weeks. I'll also let tester beta test it during those 2 weeks.

I know that I've promised to release BlueSE earlier then this but I was working on it none stop, which in the end wasn't a good idea. I started forcing creativity and ideas which was really frustrating. Ideas and such things should come as a lighting flash instead of forcing it. So yeah, I've had a few of those which turned out pretty good and simple.

Also, for people who are interested in it, during those 2 weeks I want to post updates of the visual style on my blog. And maybe even a surprise beta for everyone but we'll see :)

Thanks for the update Capric0rn, i've subscribed to your blog so i'll be sure to catch any new info, you'll be tweeting updates as well, i presume? :D

There hasn't been much activity recently regarding XP styles, most of the new stuff i see on dA are Win 7 clones.

All right, who gives a damn to it. Now I am happily using a Mac. Keep procrastinating, I bet you cannot release it within 6 weeks.
Dude, take a chill pill. Life can get busy, and people don't have time to work on their personal projects. Live life while you can because it's short. Sitting in front of a computer 24/7 != enjoying life to the fullest. Besides, this theme is better than anything that Mac has, you are the one that's missing out. Don't you have a turtleneck to wear and a Starbucks to goto?

@tsupersonic: You pretty much summed up what I had deleted from my post before I hit the "Add Reply" button :p

Jup, I'll put screenshots in my tweets with some info :)

Thanks for the update Cap. Public beta sounds cool!

If you don't care since you're on a mac now, why post? GTFO troll.

Finishing this theme has become a bit harder for me as I've gotten myself a new monitor yesterday. I've gone from a 19" CRT screen to a 22" HD LCD screen, so the colors are looking a bit different now.

Just to test it all out I made some new menu hovers for the "All programs" menu. The design is the same as the ones from Emico, though I re-created them from scratch so that they'll have the new colors. Here's a screenshot of the current hovers:

Emendo-MenuHovers.png

Tell me what you guys think and if it's looking alright :)

Emendo looks pretty good on my LCD. Not to bright, not to dark. I noticed that some people where complaining about this in the Ambient thread. Could be due to wrong calibration on their part, I don't know.

The final name for the theme is going to be Emendo, which means: To free from faults, emend, edit. It'll only be released in the color blue because the black theme didn't look that nice. Also, I didn't know how to go on with the black theme as I didn't really like the colors etc. Therefore I had made a mockup codenamed Everest, it's not part of Emico or Emendo. But since Emendo will be my last visual style for Windows XP, I wont be making that anymore. I AM willing to give the mockup away if there's an artist who wants to work it out as a theme. I don't think it's fair if I show the mockup off as a screenshot now, is it? :p

I already had 4 beta testers but 1 of those ruined it for the others. He posted a desktop screenshot off it while using my theme. I told him that I had already told him, and the other beta testers, to NOT post screenshots of the theme. He apologized and told me that he wouldn't do it again. 2 days later I find him posting another screenshot with stuff from my theme which I didn't even want anyone else to see yet. He used the beta as a mockup for his own them. After that I told him and the other beta testers that I wouldn't need beta testers anymore. It unfortunate for the others because they stuck with the rules and they actually helped quiet good.

I might change my mind for the other 3 beta testers (which I see myself doing) but currently I wont be needing new testers.

I saw his desk screenshot with Emendo on other forum and I thought You realese theme :)

Nice that you have new LCD monitor now I think brighness, colors in VS will be perfect when you making style on LCD now.

If the theme would be released, Neowin.net would be the first forum I'd post it on after uploading it to deviantART.

The current colors and brightness of the theme are going to stay the same, otherwise I'd have to recreate every single item. It pretty much all still looks the same on this screen compared to the CRT, though better in some way.

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
