aw man, film that XD I really want to see that... by the way, Alfista - you can support your team and NOT be condescending or negative towards others/other teams as well you know...

Hoping for a good match tonight - Hiddink NEVER stranded in the group phase before. Never. No matter how grim the situation was (world cup Australia and Netherlands for example) yet Sweden has a solid team, not the best IMO, but very solid nontheless.

It will depend alot on which Zlatan show up to play.

There's more than one Zlatan??? :o hehe j/k

He will play from start, quite a gamble though as his injury's been playing up recently....

Anyways, I hope we pull it through against the Russians and meet that strange orange team in the quarters. ;)

Buffon's only moment was that penalty kick save and it happens to be the reason why Italy is through.

Buffon is quite possibly the most overrated goal keeper in the game right now. I don't think he's that great, and I'm Italian. I LOVE the Azzuri, but Buffon needs help. With Cannavaro out to injury, Buffon has to step it up. He had it easy in the World Cup, but at least he's making some decent plays now.

Still good to see Italy advance over France! That's twice now, and no Zidane to blame. Well, the french like to blame Matterazi, so at least you can't blame him this time either. Good on them, I can't wait to see who makes it past the quarters.

And I agree with the assessment of Toni, I don't think he's the best person, but he's probably the best Italian for the job. He's a great club player, and you have to base your National team around your club players.

Looks like it's going to be Spain next!

I am so glad the games are being broadcast here in the US.

Tell me about it. I paid $300+ 4 years ago to watch Euro 2004 on PPV here in the states. Glad ESPN is starting to transmit more and more games.

Before today's game, I thought the Netherlands would have an easy Quarter-Final win against either Sweden or Russia but my view has changed. Watching Russia dominate like they did today has me optimistic that the Dutch vs Russia game will be a great game. The Dutch and Russians play very similar football if you have watched them play, the exception being the game they had with the Spaniards.

Many of us are giving the Dutch an easy victory in the Quarters, for good reason, but I will state it now: watch out for the Russians.

In a side note, Greece lost again and got what they deserved for the way they played their first game.

I agree. I really enjoyed the way the Russians played and it was my favorite match so far, more than the two other games the Dutch played well in.

Russia is looking very dangerous.

russia dangerous?

did you see their silly strikers... as if they are handicapped to score goals. i dont even know how could they score the other two goals.. any way. Russia will be a piece of cake for Holland.

Also you said this is your fav. match so far.

come on. be honest.

remember the adrenalyn on Turkey vs Czech Republic game? that was the game of the tournament and everyone knows it. Even a brittish spokesman said during the game "i would not be suprised if a martian UFO lands to the stadium. by far the most entertaining and dramatic game of the tournament in many years"

Now, don't do that! Make up something else, something less dangerous. I'm sure a lot of neowinians here can help you in the quest for your decent punishment. :)

haha lol

honestly..

if Croatia beats turkey i am going to go to the Croatian embassy in Turkey and stand there for 1 week and not eat anything.

Yeah Russia is going to be tough

Indeed, even I was surprised. They could have been 6-0 up if they put away their chances. I'm looking forward to the match between Holland and Russia, I'm sure sparks will fly!

I can understand your enthusiasm for your team, but toning it down a little might help you win some fans, instead of alienating them, wouldn't you agree?

I rather you just say that Croatia deserved to be winners, if they win. Starving yourself just because your team didn't win is the high point of stupidity, not to mention that the Turkey football team could care less if you did it for them.

Scirwode

I partly saw the Sweden - Russia match yesterday.

I agree that they will be a strong opponent against the Netherlands saturday. However, Russia had so many chances, especially in the end when Sweden's defence was ... missing? They should have used those chances though. If they can't score when facing the Swedish keeper, I wonder how they will manage when they're facing van der Sar. If our defence will even let them through. :p

I don't know, I'm not great at these predictions. I just think that the Netherlands will have to work for it, but it won't be an impossible win. Hiddink knows Dutch football, heck he even taught Russia to play Dutch footbal. But I still think van Basten will have the upper hand. His players are just more naturally talented imo.

Then again, you never know with football (and Dutch people). It could just be their last match saturday. :p

How old are you? 14?

    • Gen Atlas is the next game from Shadow of the Colossus creator, this time with giant robots by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The mind behind widely well-received games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, showed up at Summer Game Fest today, and that was to reveal his latest project. Being developed by genDESIGN, Gen Atlas is incoming with what looks to be plenty of mech and robot action. Watch the reveal trailer, which makes not much sense, above. The game will have players waking up on an abandoned planet where deserted facilities and grand designs from the original creators remain. Soon, they will stumble upon a colossal robot, from which players gain access to the power to change the world. "Across an endless expanse of time, the remnants of those forgotten constructs begin to move once more," adds the studio. The gameplay snippets seen in the trailer show the player character climbing giant robots (as expected from the creator), while also controlling these titans somehow as well. This is a fully single-player open-world adventure. “The team and I are grateful to all the fans who’ve been eager to learn more about our game,” says Fumito Ueda, CEO and creative director of genDESIGN. “Their passion and enthusiasm has always motivated and inspired us. We hope to share an experience that inspires moments of quiet wonder and discovery.” Before gaining the name Gen Atlas, Ueda first announced this project back in 2024 with the codename Project Robot. Interestingly, this will be a project being funded and published by Epic Games, which should mean that a Steam release is out of the question. Gen Atlas will be releasing on Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • How backwards can you have it? Yes, Linux was gaining because of Linux handhelds and the push for gaming compatibility, but that's not desktop users, it barely converts anyone who owns a SteamDeck, though it helps for those who wanted to do it, but anyways, the AI+RAM debacle helped Linux because people can't easily upgrade their PCs easily and many hate AI so they'd be incentivized to try Linux.
