ahhhh that sucks. ah well. thats how it goes i guess. i really wonder why buffon chose to let spain take the first pk. italy really had a poor choice of attackers. bye bye to donadoni i think

will be interesting for spain to play russia again.

edit: LOL, mahone

first time in history Italy is not lucky, anyway very poor game,

i guess you dont remember

2004 - 3 way tie and not getting out of the group

2002 - in 4 games total of 5 goals called back for offisde/foul

2000 - seconds away from final whistle while leading 1-0

1998 - shootout loss to france

1994 - shootout loss to brazil

1990 - shootout loss to argentina

they didnt have a team that was going to win this tournament though

I agree, it was a pretty poor game but at least Spain did deserve to go through with the chances they've created.

what i mean is that Italy almost always win it when it came to penalties (excepting WC 94 and don't remamber 90) they usually get through without doing too much.

but anyway, i don't think donadoni should not go back to italy, he is the cause of all this IMHO!!!!!!

thats a pretty broad statement. 'usually get through without doing too much'. no team gets through without at least working hard for it.

also, italy dont almost always win when it comes to penalties. i mentioned right there - 1990, 1994 and 1998 world cup exits were to PKs. (semi, a final, and quarter final)

hahah, yeah, i think donadoni wont be too liked right now. EDIT: actually he wasnt too liked in terms of italy coach before the tournament even.

Decent game for sure, though it was very slow paced until the last 25 minutes of the game and over time. Italy showed us again they are the masters of defense and they did not allow any space for Spain to maneuver.

Nonetheless, Spain deserved the win tonight and they got it.

Well with Italy gone. Finally all the boring, defensive teams are out... now tournament gets interesting.. Germany has a better chance against Turkey but you can never count Turkey out till the final whistle.. lets see what happens coz the Germans may get overconfident and fall to a "never say die" Turkish team.

As far as second semi goes.. If Spain thinks they are facing same Russia they beat 4-1 they will be out of Euro by halftime in that game.. This is a Russian side which beat favorites Holland 3-1 and van Basten himself came to their dressing room to congratulate them and said you outplayed us.. van Basten is also reported as saying.. Russia are the favorites now to lift the trophy.. Spain will have their hands full this time with Arshavin back and Russian defence peaking a just the right time.. if they play the same way they played Italy.. Russian counter attacks may prove too deadly. Interesting game, can go either way..

But IMO.. if Russia goes to the final.. Germany/Turkey wont be able to stop them!

ever since i have been following football. i never saw italy being lucky.

ALWAYS unlucky.

they were my fav team in the world cup.

well at least they will be holders until 2010.

You have got to be kidding me!!! how do you suppose the won the World cup?!?!!!? They beat France twice coz of 2 red cards.. in world cup it was Zidane.. this time it was Abidal.. they were lucky when ball slipped out of Buffon's hands this game.. they were lucky to get through to quarter finals in forst place.. their luck FINALLY ran out..

they are old.. their stirkers except del Piero can be better replaced by wooden poles so Pirlo and company and knock the ball in by hitting those... Toni is an idiot to be very frank.. spends more time holding is head than thinking how to get goals.. Italians are lucky to be world champs.. personally I would have love to see Scotland qualify for Euro rather than this Italian team that plays boring football.. the Scots would have had some fun and played beautiful football!!!

Who do you support out of the four semi-finalists? and who is your favorite to win?

I support Russia and I think they can win the whole thing now!

^i agree with you about Italy being a boring team that always plays defensive but last WC they did something for which i'll be always thankful to lippi, they played with 4 forwards (del piero, iaquinta, totti & gilardino) and Pirlo behind'em against Germany and France in the last minutes something unbelievable in Italy and it worked!!!!!

anyway, for this semis i'm with Turkey in the first one even if they only have 12 or 13 players even if their chances are very little, and in the second with Rusia because they play very well, they beaten Holland and because i don't stand the Spanish!!!!!!!

relax man. they were soo lucky to be there eh? lucky to begin the game against holland with an offside goal? and to score first against romania with a good goal but have it called back for offside? i'm not saying they should have beat holland or won euro, but they deserved to get out of the group. they do have a very poor offense in this tournament and some things should have been different.

i wish they played a bit more like they did when they came out against scotland in that last qualifier. they came out with hunger and really wanting to score. theyve played like that quite a lot in the past. toni really did **** all for italy, but the guy did score 120+ goals in the past 5 seasons for his clubs, so you really cant leave the guy at home.

anyway i think it'll be a very interesting rematch for russia-spain. but of the teams left i think germany will win.

Sooo

what can 14 man Turkey do against Germany on wednesday?

fatih terim just said that our back up goalkeeper might play as a striker if necessary...

I will cheer for Turkey to death... but i believe its going to be way tougher than any game we played.

villa exaggurated his feelings but there was a tackle directly to his feet inside the box.

I'm starting to think you say rubbish like this purposely just to start fights on the internet. His feet weren't touched, what he fell over because the mighty Chielini's feet created a gust of wind 2 metres away? He got the ball (Villa), moved it back and fell over because he saw the opportunity. The ****** deserved the yellow.

    • Ladybird Browser is no longer accepting outside contributions thanks to AI by David Uzondu The Ladybird Browser Project has announced it will no longer accept public pull requests and will limit changes to those made by its maintainers as it works towards its first alpha release. According to Ladybird's creator Andreas Kling, this is "not a change we make lightly," but the rapid shift in AI capabilities forced their hand. Previously, a massive PR implied that the person behind it put a lot of care into the code and is ready to "answer for the consequences." Now with AI, anyone can generate a PR without even understanding the bug fix or feature they want merged. The blog post goes on to say that the team is closing all open public pull requests immediately, and that maintainers will not treat external forks as a review queue for upstream Ladybird. Instead, the team wants outside contributors to focus on reporting bugs and running tests. Kling started Ladybird back in 2019 as LibHTML, a simple HTML viewer for his hobby operating system, SerenityOS, but by September 2022, it had turned into a full-fledged browser project. What sets Ladybird apart from the likes of Google Chrome, Apple Safari, or Mozilla Firefox is its totally independent engine, which does not rely on pre-existing codebases. The project maintains a strict policy against default search engine deals or user data monetization, keeping development funded entirely by donations and sponsorships. Generative AI is forcing open source project maintainers to rethink how they handle public code contributions (and the whole open-source thing in general). One month ago, a leak about the National Health Service (NHS) suggested the organization was planning to take all of its public repositories private ahead of a May 11 deadline, thanks to Mythos (an AI model that Anthropic believes is too dangerous to be released to the public) and its ability to find and write exploits for zero-day vulnerabilities. Thankfully, the Government Digital Service (GDS) issued a counter-report titled "AI, open code and vulnerability risk in the public sector" that stopped the shutdown by pointing out that hiding code does not improve security.

    • I like the show more options. The only problem with it is that it's not always in a consistent spot in the menu. If the copy/paste/cut, happens to show on top, then more option is the last in the menu. But if copy/paste/cut happens to show on the bottom, then more options is before the copy/paste/cut. But I do like the more options because it hides the stuff that I rarely use. But I would like to choose what it is or isn't hiding. That would make it better.
    • I wonder if "put it back the way it was for decades" ever crossed their minds? 🤣
    • Rescind the stupid "Show more options" in context menus and just give us the full menu instead of adding more steps to get to what we want. The "simpler by default" makes me think they'll go in the opposite direction. Every context menu should have a configure button so you can pick and choose what options should be shown, I know you can do that with some registry fu but that shouldn't be required.
