Limbo of the Lost Dev Steals Assets From Other Games

Recommended Posts

You guys realise that chances are, this was all done deliberately? I mean games this ****ty get released all the time, yet everyone's focusing on this one and that'll probably quadruple sales of it.

well if this is anything to go by I'd say not. I've read here and I think at one other site that the publisher has stopped distributing the game after hearing the allegations.

Following accusations that PC title Limbo of the Lost used assets taken from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Thief: Deadly Shadows, among other games, publisher Tri Synergy has discontinued distribution of the game.

The company claims it had no knowledge that developer Majestic Studios reused the level designs and artwork without permission.

The company claims that it is "shocked" by recent screenshot comparisons from gaming communities GamePlasma and NeoGAF that allegedly show Limbo of the Lost using level designs and artwork originally from a multitude of other games.

The main guy "Steve Bovis" has a myspace page in which he expresses "i could do with someone who knows about computers as i have no experience at all with them".

Look at his pic at the bottom of: here in the blue shirt at the poker table.

And the pic at his myspace page: here look around his neck, see the white thing? Same guy!.

These peeps are scam artists that were looking to make some quick cash. Apparently they are on vacation, but when they get back...it'll be up the creek with a plagiarized paddle.

Update :

They apparently have returned and claim ignorance.

The developers apparently came back to work today, as a source connected to Majestic issued to GameSpot the following statement from the studio:

"In response to the shocking notification that some alleged unauthorized copyrighted materials submitted by sources external to the development team have been found within the PC game Limbo of the Lost, we (the development team) have given our consent and full cooperation to both publishers who are recalling all units from all territories immediately.

Please be assured that we do not condone in anyway the use of unauthorized copyrighted materials and if we had been made aware earlier, we would of course have ceased development of the product and rectified the issue prior to the publication process.

To the best of our knowledge no one at Majestic, [European publisher] G2Games or [North American publisher Tri Synergy, Inc.] knew about this infringement and knowingly played any part in it.

We can only apologise to all regarding this issue, as a team we are shocked and mortified regarding these events and we continue to work with said publishers in order to rectify the issue.

How did the thought of nobody noticing spontaneously materialize in their minds? Honestly, the amount of stupidity shown by the developers of this game is incalculable. Forgive me for my harsh remarks but come on. I thought they would've at least had the decency to admit it. I bet the magical "game copyright infringement fairy" inserted the stolen assets into the game.

Whatever, the game looks rubbish anyway, been seeing some screens of a guy playing! Although they may have appeared to have stolen assets from other games, it really didn't help them either way!

I really think it's a hoax tbh, was listening to the 1Up Yours podcast and some of the information they learnt on the "developers" was just too bizarre
