Spartan Erik
I'm currently running XP SP2 with the patched uxtheme, so can I still install SP3? I heard that SP3 will re-patch the uxtheme file to restrict users to Microsoft themes; can I install SP3 and then apply the SP3-specific uxtheme patch? spacesurfer
you can install it but sp3 will repatch your uxtheme.dll. i installed sp3 on 2 computers and both reverted to the basic visual style. as a matter of fact, it will repatch all your patched files - including the control panel .cpl's. Jamushroom Veteran Posted June 24, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 24, 2008 You can download a patched Uxtheme for service pack 3 here: Uxtheme patches. It's not an installer so you'll have to replace the current unpatched version with the patched version with Replacer. You'll probably have to disable Windows File Protection to replace the file. alpha_omega
I replace it usually via Recovery Console. You don't have to mess with WFP this way.
