what is this feature pack exactly?

It's a Media Center Feature update. But the only feature I gained is lack of ability to actually start Media Center. :ermm:

I have just reported my title as being incorrect. Was meant to be: Windows Vista Media Center Feature Pack 2008. ;)

It is a bit disappointing that a product badged 'RC' crashes on launch.

Yeah, that is odd. It could be anything from a graphics driver incompatibility to a MCE plugin that's not compatible.

...I'm assuming Media Center worked fine before?

Oh, and could the Vista trolls please go somewhere else? I have Vista x64 installed and I'm perfectly happy with it. :) Would never trade it for XP or OS X.

Sure. My Media Center worked fine before the update.

Perhaps it is a driver problem. But there is no later drivers for either my TV Tuner Card or Video Card ATM.

Looks like someone needs to be smacked with the Microsoft Beta ban-hammer. :o

I don't remember signing an NDA for this project. And I'm not spreading the installer of the WMC Feature Pack - so I don't see why you think there needs to be any banning.

Windows Vista Media Center Feature Pack 2008

I hate how everything has such long names.

Does it need to have 2008?

Does it need to have Windows Vista?

You just wouldnt catch Apple releasing something with a ridiculously long name.

Microsoft has a lot more products than Apple, so more detailed naming is sometimes required.

Yeah, I was still keeping my hopes up to see Blu-ray support for DVD-library but I guess not then. Pfff, why does Microsoft always come years behind others.

They have more people they need to please and in a business like that, you can't go annoying large amounts of customers.

Well yes, since then people wouldn't be able to tell if this Pack applied to MCE2005 or VMC. ;)

I was hoping for Blu-ray support. And it hasn't happened. :ermm:

Perhaps Microsoft could do a Ultimate Extra that will allow WMP / Media Center to playback Blu-ray.

Do a little google that you will find at least 2 aplications to play Blu-Ray on Media Center..
