Oh and hats off to Man Utd.. they came to Emirates to play football and played one hell of a game..

But we showed again.. if you play beautiful football.. we can play even more beautiful football..

having said that.. i felt we missed physical strength.. especially when their holding midfielders got the ball.. we couldn't take it back from them..

Also.. I won't mind Owen coming to us.. having seen the 2 headers Bendtner missed.. we need someone who can score from headers!

I'm still ****ed off with that defeat. Even more because I wasn't able to see the game (I was working...). Nasri's goals are goods but why can't he scores like that with the national team ? I think we don't deserve to lose this afternoon, we came at Emirates Stadium to play football, and we did. But two shots from Nasri and several unusual miss from us decided otherwise.

And Liverpool won too. What a poor day for football... :shifty:

:D

Your point is?

Tea Martyn!

Well what I did lee, because I am such a funny ****. I took your silly statement over Owen and created a comparison between him and Walcott (who I presume is now your new idol now Henry has ****ed you off) in order to have a pop back.

Liam Brady is my idol.

Henry I have never liked at Arsenal.

Marc Overmars was a better player.

You want Thiery for your team, then petition the board at Liverpool.

Thiery Henry is a no-body now.

He left the best club in the world for a pub side.

I am sure those 3 sitters he missed in 2006 euro champions final was meant.

Don't feed the troll yeah I know, but I can't help it...

Thanks for that comment. Like my day was not ****ty enough I have to read a stupid comment by an ungrateful Arsenal fan...

Without Henry Arsenal would still seek titles, since OMG what ? 10 years...

Maybe you should keep that in mind.

(sorry if I'm speaking weirdly, right now I can't think in english)

Surely you must be an idiot with statements like those. Seriously.

Forgetting what he did for you? He won titles on his own for Arsenal. You can't blame him for the 2006 Final either, he did score the goals to get you there and how could you forget that class goal against Real Madrid that set you on your way to Paris.

Oh, and before he left, I remember you had Henry in your sig.

Never challenge Martyn at football he has a whole history book in his brain I mean ask him who scored 2 goals at the fa cup final in 1939 and he will tell you :p

I know plenty more knowledgable people than me regarding football if I am honest Damien.

Oh, and if I had to guess I would say that there wasn't one because of WWII :p?

EDIT: There was an FA Cup Final in 1939, but not from 1940 until 1946. See, I can be wrong (although close in this case) ;)

:p a bit OT but did you see the attendance of that cup final :|

Empire Stadium, Wembley, London

Attendance: 99,370

Referee: T. Thompson (Leamington)

It was all standing back in those days, so you basically let everyone in until it was full.

When The Kop was all standing, it used to house a lot more people than it does now.

Owen:

Good player, great finisher on his day, provided he is fit.

Why he is worth a gamble:

Coming to the end of his contract, so will not cost huge amounts in transfer fees.

Is not happy at Barcodes, so will consider most offers from suitable clubs.

Is not playing for England currently, but will be burning to prove himself.

Has an excellent scoring record for club and country.

Is of proven premiership and international quality.

Will play well with most strike partners: can play with smaller players as he is good in the air and pacy, but will also thrive off taller players and playmakers. In this sense he is diverse, and a system will not have to be changed to incorporate him.

Wage demands can be offset with a bigger signing on fee, as he will not cost so much.

If he can be kept fit he will score at least 15 a season.

Will always work hard and put in 100% - he is not an awkward player and has a great attitude.

Why he might not be worth it:

Simply: injuries. If he cannot stay fit, he could well end up playing very few games. He therefore will need to be bought as a striking 'option', and is not really suitable for teams with only one established striker, or to a team without other attacking options. Simply, there should be other strikers at the club capable of playing and scoring when Owen is not fit. He should therefore be seen more as a '3rd striker', and money may well be better spent by some clubs on players who are guaranteed to play 90mins every week.

There may well be better options in the rest of the world for the same money. Players like Zaki are out there to be discovered, as well as young talent that would be cheaper, more reliable and would have greater sell-on value in the future, as Owen's value is not likely to grow significantly unless he really hits a rich vein of fitness and form, which can by no means be relied upon.

So, on paper, Owen is most certainly a gamble. Recommended for clubs that already have a good strike partnership or striking options, but are looking to add one more. He could be an excellent addition if kept fit, but a burden if he gets injured. Ideally, I see him playing an 'Ole Gunnar Solskear' kind of role of 'super-sub' at his next club: a proven goalscorer that can change a game or be relied on when needed, but should not be bought with a view to play 90 every week. The bigger the club, the more provision (and money) there is to do this, so he would not be recommended for a side with limited playing options, or a limited budget.

As for Henry:

As a Spurs fan, it is tough for me to say, but he is the best striker that I have ever witnessed in the premiership. He was practically single-handedly responsible for much of Arsenals successes at his time at the club. He played alongside a lot of good players, without whom, undoubtedly, he could not have done so well, but he was most certainly the diamond at the centre of the crown: without him, they would not have achieved what they did. I really cannot for one second understand why any Arsenal fan could treat him with anything but awe, respect and gratitude, and remember what a truly great player he was (and indeed, still is). He was the personification of Arsenal success and those that think otherwise should have a long, hard look at their achievements, and work out how much it was down to this man. (Arrogant ###### though he is... ;))

And if Barca are a pub team, that makes the Woolwich a girl-scouts under-nines eleven (N)

how someone disses one of the greatest pure strikers of all team especially when they are a fan of the french national team... i mean arsenal is beyond me. I would kill to have him in a reds jersey. And great game for the boys, especially Keane. Finally broke out in the EPL for the scousers. Great pass by Gerrard also.

and yeah i wouldn't mess with martyn knowledge... Hey marty, you think rafa will get anymore then a three year extension? Thats what i figure they will give him.

and yeah leesmithg, theo isn't the future, nasri is...

Nasri and Fabregas both have the same age (21), and Walcott is two years younger. They are all three the future of Arsenal.

"The chances we had in the game were incredible. It was the area in which we let ourselves down. I think if we'd got one when Cristiano Ronaldo got his great chance, then we'd have got something out of the game.

"It was fantasy football, it was like playground stuff - you attack, we attack - and they got the goals that mattered.

"In fairness to my own team, after the second goal their determination and drive to try and rescue the game was fantastic and we probably deserved something from the game."

"I don't think you'll see a game as good as that anywhere else in the country."

"Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say 'if you're going to get beaten, just make sure it's someone who's going to play football' and Arsenal played good football at times."

The reason Nasri doesn't score for France and he scores for his club is the Raymond Domenche has no belief in Nasri, while Wenger has. And it shows.. Just watch Euro 2008 and how much of a chance Domenche gave to Benzema and Nasri to prove themselves. Domenche must go, he is not a good coach... France suffers a lot coz of his poor tactics, selection and judgement.

Congrats to Liverpool.. I was thinking that day while replying to rajpoot.. keane isnt really firing so maybe Liverpool can do with Owen.. seems Keane heard me.. lol.. good game..

Harry was also at it again!!!! :pinch: Another win for Spurs..

Hey lee.. how can you bad mouth Henry mate?? He was and is a ****ing legend at Arsenal!!! Greatest ever goal scorer and voted greatest ever Gunner by the fans!! (http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/gunners-greatest-players-1.-thierry-henry)

http://www.arsenal.com/history/gunners-greatest-50-players

Liam Brady (voted 8th) was a great and so was Overmars (voted 12th greatest)..

Personally, Dennis Bergkamp was my greatest ever Arsenal player.. but Henry was the most prolific goalscorer in the Premiership!

EVERYBODY at Arsenal loved him.. and most of us still do.. its very sad to see that some don't now..

losing an argument is one thing.. but how can you say Henry was not good for us after everything he did is simply beyond me!?!!

Oh and that final match against Barca was lost not coz of Henry.. but because Lehmann was sent off very early and we had to play almost all of the match with 10 players and near the end fatigue and Larsson got the better of us.. it was not Henry's job to defend the goal, although he did.. he ran from goal to goal all game.. but it was ultimately the back players who should've made sure Barca doesn't get through.. i think you missed or forgot that game.. go and watch a tape!!

Henry is still loyal to Arsenal.. hence he does not sign for a rival English club and stays at Barca where they don't appreciate him.. What you said was disgraceful!!!

Thanks Henry for the memories and some of the greatest goals in EPL history!
