So I know the title was a little strange, but do purchase things made by the camera makers.

For instance, Nikon make a replacement battery for ?25, yet there is another battery for ?9.99.

So, do you use things made by the camera maker or purchase less expensive obscure makes?

Thanks

I'm not inclined to use third party accessories for stuff like batteries, wireless remotes. Generally they aren't hugely cheaper and depending on what you buy, it could really go wrong. ?20 vs ?10 and the chance of doing hundreds of pounds of damage? No thanks. However, not all third party stuff if evil - if something has multiple glowing reviews and hundreds of users singing its praise despite being third party, then sure, maybe. Lenswise is not so much of an issue though, I have nothing against Sigma/Tamron/Tokina, but as Keito says, they're not exactly obscure third party.

The main benefit in my opinion to buying first party products/accessories is your inherent right to complain against damages and have some degree of support. If a generic battery off ebay goes belly-up on you...you're footing the repair bill.

None of the options really. I buy what suits me the best. Some times it's the manufacturer's product, sometimes it's a third party. That's not only for lenses separate from everything else. For instance, I only have Nikon lenses, but that doesn't mean I would ONLY buy a Nikon lens. Same with accessories, I have a lowepro strap instead of the Nikon one because it's more comfortable. I use Nikon lens caps only because they are much better caps. I have no problem getting either a Nikon or another good battery pack, I just wouldn't go for the cheap crummy ones. I use a Pentax lens cleaning kit, despite the fact I have no other Pentax stuff. Ect...

    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article?
    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.

With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
