How big is your Vista Windows folder?

Recommended Posts

My bet is that much of the space is taken up by the SP1 backup files.

Mine is around 9 GB. Who cares, I have a 200 GB primary partition.

If you want to remove those files, then in a command window type 'vsp1cln.exe' (without the quotes) and press Enter

Still bashing Vista I see.

There are a lot of programs that have been added, so there is no need for 3'rd party software, and various other things that take up more space. I'm not using much more space than I did on a similar XP Pro setup on this same machine. I'll say that Dreamscene is most of my added space usage.

The size of the installation is excessive though IMO, even with hard drives costing practically next to nothing.

I'd love to see MS offer more advanced options when installing Windows to let you remove things you don't need - Lessen the need for external apps like Vlite.

Although even if MS did offer more options, I'd still opt for Vlite just because MS would never allow you to rip out some of the things it does.

However it would be a step in the right direction for those not wanting to use Vlite
