Myself and a friend just picked this up over the weekend on a whim. I gotta say, I really like it. We spent most of the weekend playing it. I REALLY like how easy the classes are to identify. I dislike the screen image tearing I've been getting with the game though. I haven't messed with the graphic options yet, so maybe I just need to turn on VSync or something.

So what's with only certain classes having unlockable weapons and achievements? Any exceptional websites for game strategy / info? Thanks.

Turn on Vsync. You'll get silky smooth gameplay online if you have capable hardware.

There are only three classes that have been updated with unlockables: Medic, Pyro, and Heavy. The Engineer received a minor update to his buildings so they can have levels. The other classes will get their updates soon., with the Scout's update coming within the next few days or weeks. At this rate, we can expect this game to have plenty of life left.

A good place to get some TF2 information is http://www.tf2wiki.net.

Knowing how valve is, i'm leaning more towards "weeks" on that.

No thats not how you do it! You go on the other team and taunt kill them :p

I've done that a couple of times.

The response you get when they're suddenly in the intel room, facing the giant window (and just as they were about to shoot) is even better.

Especially when you act like you can't understand what the problem is, as you're just trying to help the team

Edit: I always turn v-sync on in Source games, it does triple buffering so you get a smooth FPS and no screen tearing.

As funny as that sounds, I've never seen that happen before. Of course, on our (spammy) 2fort server there are class limits in place so no possibility of 8 snipers having fun with a human target practice range.

Our latest match in etf2l ended in quite a funny turbine score :p

I'm in SpecialAttack just to let you know, not the other team

Nice score!

Ooh I'm pretty sure I play on your All maps server! I'll say hi next time I'm on. I'm [cake] DaVNiX!

Yeah i have seen quite a few cake guys around, atermono plays quite a lot :) We also have a new UK server which might be good for you, although we are still ironing out a few problems.

Ah so that's where he's hiding! Cool I'll check it out at some point.

I decided to run TF2 at the office just now (don't ask :p ) and I was surprised by how different it looks right now compared to before. Even selecting servers is different and for a few minutes I got lost.

There was also the fact that I died a lot, but that was beside the point  !

TF2 has been updated again:

Updates to Team Fortress 2 and Day of Defeat: Source have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Team Fortress 2

* Sticky bombs now get a reduced close range damage ramp up (like Rocket Launcher & Syringe Gun)

o Ultimately reduces damage done by sticky bombs to enemies <512 units from the Demoman

* Moved the unlockable system over to the new item backend:

o Added a warning dialog to the loadout screen telling clients when the server they're on could not get their loadout

* Made "tf_damage_disablespread" a replicated convar, so clients can see the value of it on the server they're connected to

* Renamed "mp_stalemate_at_timelimit" to "mp_match_end_at_timelimit", to better explain its function now that stalemate is optional

* Fixed muzzle flashes & shell ejections still playing when viewmodels are hidden

* Server tags can now be used to include or exclude servers from the list

Team Fortress 2 and Day of Defeat: Source

* Protected several more commands from client exploitation

The update caused all my unlockables to reset. I still have all that I earned so far but they reverted to the 'stock' weapons.

Happened with me as well.

This update also appears to change everyone's Steam IDs in-game; the first number would change from a 0 to 1. That screwed with my community server's stats tracking (and probably any server that uses HLSTATSX).

Yeah, they're slowly updating the OB engine with L4D features (L4D uses STEAM_1, older games use STEAM_0)

It's screwed over Garry's Mod too.

But, We'll just have to wait for things to be updated (it's easy to change over details though, do a find and replace so steam_0 becomes steam_1)

well that breaks consistency across their games, that'll mean you'll now have 2 steam id's instead of one?
Valve stated a few weeks ago that as soon as they moved the unlockables to Cloud then they could release the scout patch, so i expect it will be out in the next few days.
I wouldn't get my hopes up. Especially since it takes them 3 weeks to do a "later this week" update like with the unlock changes. Knowing valve it'll take them till april to just "finish up" the scout artwork like they said they had left to do.
They are only OP to people who dont know how to use them

Surely people who know how to use them can use them with much more destruction since they are OP, the average public player is useless with pipe bombs. So they are more overpowered with people who do know how to use them.

    • I think he means you haven't reviewed previous UFC games. Of course it doesn't matter... Every time you just report on something that involves the President even if just simply what happened you guys usually get accused of being anti-Trump. We live in fun times.
    • So how did you solve the problem? Disabling Secure Boot isn’t a solution.
    • Another devilish issue surrounding these certificates is what can happen with old, unsuspecting PCs that nevertheless have Secure Boot enabled. In my case, it was a Dell with a 3rd-gen Core chip (so about 13 years old). As of the last few weeks, it was suddenly BSOD'g within about 5 minutes of booting. Turns out it was because of MS's "Secure-Boot-Update" scheduled task, which is scheduled to run 5 minutes after login. It's explained in gory detail here (this is not my post, but it was where I found the answer), but the short version is that this legacy system would need fairly elaborate, manual certificate intervention since MS's automatic cert update method cannot work. How to do that is linked late in the thread. https://www.bleepingcomputer.c...od-caused-by-scheduled-task Secure Boot wasn't at all important for this particular PC, so I disabled it to be done with the problem.

Winhance 26.06.12 changelog: Features Builder Mode — build a Winhance config file or autounattend.xml without changing anything on the PC you're sitting at. Flip the new mode switcher to Builder, set everything the way you want it, and save the result as a Winhance config or an autounattend file ready for deployment on other machines. Sponsors & Supporters page — the exit donation dialog is gone. In its place, an in-app page (heart icon or the More menu) recognizes the businesses and individual supporters who keep Winhance free. It works offline and is fully localized. Change History — Winhance now keeps a receipt of everything it does. ChangeHistory.txt records every setting change (before and after values) and every app install or removal, with clear headers for config imports and bulk actions. Open it from the More menu. Hebrew language support — Winhance is now available in 29 languages. New Explorer customizations: desktop icon visibility toggles, This PC folder visibility, an icon cache size setting, and automatic thumbnail cache cleanup. New "All apps view" setting for the redesigned Windows 11 Start menu, and the Windows 11 system tray icons setting is now a dropdown with more control. App-local UI zoom — press Ctrl +/-/0 or use Ctrl+MouseWheel to scale the whole app, just like a browser. New External Apps: EA app, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, Rockstar Games Launcher, PowerShell, and Helium Browser. Bug Fixes Layouts no longer clip when the Windows text size slider is set above 100%. Accessibility: Narrator now announces setting names on toggles and dropdowns, previously unlabeled buttons are labeled, and progress updates are announced. Silent updates now respect your custom install location instead of reverting to the default. Cancel in Review Mode no longer clears your app selections. OneNote is now detected correctly for Win32 Click-to-Run installs. Clean Start Menu applies more reliably by also writing the group policy path. WinGet errors are no longer silent — error details now show in the terminal output. Fixed a startup crash on older Windows builds caused by a .NET runtime regression. Config import now converts power setting values correctly and no longer re-applies an already-active power plan. Improvements App icons load noticeably faster and cover almost everything now, including legacy capabilities and optional features — they come from a dedicated, checksum-validated icon repository and are fetched in parallel. Software & Apps polish: per-icon tooltips, extra table columns, an app sort dropdown, relocated search, and a cleaner compact view. A warning now appears when the Connected Devices Platform Service is set to Manual or Disabled, since some Windows features depend on it.
