Wait a sec:

What map is that in the background? It looks like two Payload train tracks hoisted up on two wooden ramps. That's definitely not Goldrush or Badwater Basin.

Would Valve ever tease people with subtle hints like that?

And the visible Cart is RED, not BLU.

It must be the new gamemode, looks like first team to move the bomb all the way to the enemy's spawn wins.

Edit: Could be the best map in the pack, and it's not Alpine. :(

Edit2: Looks like he's holding the scattergun unlock in the picture.

Upon looking at the picture again, I think competitive Payload is a better description than two-way Payload. I was under the impression both bases were located opposite each other, and that the teams would be able to move their carts to the center where they'd try to stop each other from advancing any further.

hud_reloadscheme in console. ;)

So has anyone else actually tried this and gotten it to work? I decided to try this and all it did was make the "wonderful"(<-sarcasm) source engine kill itself instead of fixing the hud bug valve [stupidly] refuses to fix.

I've not had to use it because the problem has not occurred again :D I'll post back when I get to try the command out.

Ah, yeah that can happen. Most of the time though the engine just hitches for a couple of seconds and returns to normal, with the proper GUI.

I just noticed that they updated the BONK! page with the achievement details. Some interesting ones in there, specifically:

- it appears the energy drink slows you down when it wears off

- "Cause an environmental death or suicide using the Force-A-Nature's knockback." Third weapon is a Force-A-Nature, icon looks like a saw of sorts.

- Kill an enemy Heavy and take his Sandvich. Sounds hilarious

It looks like the Energy Drink is going to let you pull off bullet-dodge moves like in the Matrix. From your perspective time slows down then after a few seconds you'll look slow to opponents, so that time on your side and the server side will be in sync after it's over.

Also from the description of Egypt it looks like the scattergun unlock will allow the scout to do "rocket"-jumping.

I think it will just automatically dodge bullets for a certain amount of time. Having the effect slow down client-side would be very difficult to implement on a game like TF2 without slowing down everyone and letting you move normal speed. Reason being, if everything on your screen (but your character) was slowed down and the server was going at normal speed, the server would have to predict your actions to update the other clients with where you are moving (remember, its moving slower on your end, so you would be "behind" the server). Its much more simple and logical (as cool as the matrix-like effect would be) to just automatically make bullets miss a scout under the effects of Bonk!.

Agreed.....looking at the Fall Classic achievement:

Fall Classic: Cause an environmental death or suicide using the Force-A-Nature's knockback.

It looks to me like the Force-A-Nature is either going to have a knockback secondary (like the pyro's Compression Blast) that will also push the scout away from a blast targeted towards the ground, or its going to be explosive shells that (as well as knocking back a target) will knock the scout high into the air.

Egypt made me go :woot: .

That looks amazing!

That may actually pull me back into game.

That and the fact I'm getting a new computer!

It's a nice map but rather one sided, once you play it on a server of 20+ slots you will see what I mean.

Scouts being able to do even higher jumps will be awesome :D

I was going to take a week or two off from TF2 after the update was released until I saw the names for the achievements. All the baseball references have gotten me excited, what with the start of the new season, MLB 09 and going to a game just around the corner. Really excited for it now.

Hope a new "Meet the..." video will be announced on Monday or Tuesday.

    • Well I've done a grand total of nothing, and it now clocks between 2010mhz and 1995mhz (stock is 1710mhz) and hovers around 80c, warmer than it used to, but tolerable clocks seem to have returned. Thanks for all the advice on this thread. Will review the evidence and make a choice.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
