They better fix that bug quick. Last night I spent nearly three hours mainly as a pyro and got zilch. (Though I did get quite a lot of HLSTATSX points in Pipeline. :p) And also that bug... it's funny seeing a solder holding a sniper rifle at first, but try discovering an enemy spy that managed to sneak past defenses and starts sniping at people from a corner that is usually inaccessible by the enemy team.

On the blog, it mentions that "most players having around 20 items in their inventory after a couple of weeks of play. If you're someone who plays a lot of TF2, you're going to get items a lot faster than that. "

Do they take your total playtime, or your playtime over the past two weeks?

I think it's time I took a break from this game. The last update can be frustrating. I clocked in about 5 hours of game play and I only found two items: the Bonk! energy drink and a Backburner. And that's the longest I played a game in a single sitting. Ugh!

Just sit in an 'achievement_idle' server over night, valve always force you to do things like this, so you might as well this time as well.

Been doing that for the past 3 hours (on top of my previous 11.2 hours) and the only thing I have gotten since the update has been the Blutsauger (only 1)....they seriously need to fix the system, I somehow doubt its still working properly if anyone has to play 10-15 hours to get a single item (that breaks there 20 items in a few weeks of normal play theory, doesn't it?)

Well, after spending the night in a Idle map server, i have now received a good amount of unlocks. I have the Huntsman, 2 ambas, cloak n dagger, and demoman mask. I got a few other weps I alread had as well. Now for just a few more. I left it on the same server while at work, so when I get home I will hopefull have them all lol.

Haven't received a damn thing in almost 20 hours of play time. Really really really don't understand how they thought this was a good idea, hell if they wanted to change the system then go for a kills = XP system or something that gives me some sort of target / progression. This system is beyond stupid. One of the few Valve decisions I do not approve of or support.

Playing 24hours a day it's "a find" per 16 hours. Playing 5 hours a day (which is still lots) it's a find per 3.5 hours.

Not sure I understand what your trying to say.....Valve has stated that going off the average gameplay time among all TF2 players, it should take a few weeks to get ALL 20 items. Lets say the average player plays 3-4 hours a day, and "a few weeks" = 3 weeks. That means it should take ~73.5 hours of gameplay to find all the weapons.

That is ~3.7 hours of gameplay to find an item.

I have played ~15 hours and have found 1 item.....thats roughly 4 times the amount of time I should have to play to find an item.

Now, clearly the system is broken because I have played for 15 hours and gotten 1 item when I should, based off how Valve wants the system to work, have 4 or more items by now.

Simply put they need to fix the system.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
