Is TF2 for the xbox any good?

I might trade COD6 in for it.

I have it for the PC but would prefer it for the xbox.

No. It takes months for the updates to go live on the X360 version and it costs money. The PC version is superior, plain and simple.

Anyway, I'm in love with the The Scottish Resistance. I can already see myself getting multiple kills from multiple locations.

What updates!? It's gotten so bad that you end up hosting a low-grav server without even knowing how you did it! It's also missing so many much needed updates, it's pretty sad.

Oh hai there! Kinda wary not to get beaten to death about how my sub got that high amongst other genuine artworks. Well, but at least - enjoy the extra points for soldier (thou they probably did nothing as mentioned before). Also condolences to all the demos.

And to probably answer the next question, no - i haven't yet got the exclusive thingy (whatever that will be). Guess its still in the making.

Congrats on getting to 3rd place with 11,000 entries! And we want pics of your item when you get it, make us all jealous.

Anyway, screw the demo's, and get the TF2 blood patch for gmod :p

Hey, at least the Xbox 360 version's marginally better than the PS3 version. :p

John Freeman, congrats on your poster! I knew the name sounded familiar but I initially thought it was another person using the same name.

Heh, whew, thanks indeed. The funny part is that I didnt actually bother to read the results straight away yesterday, as I had no ambitions getting anywhere near the top. Well, thats until pms started to flow in. Last time ive won anything was probably tickets to Toy Story premiere almost 15 years ago. So, yay!

Demoman Killed: 6,323,921

Dead Soldiers: 6,298,465

War ends in about 30 minutes. No way the demo is going to win now.

Perhaps I was wrong and Valve really was not padding the numbers, and the close call of last night was a final motivation to soldiers.

Its always possible that Valve still did pad the numbers, because they saw the soldier getting farther and farther away from the demo and therefore did not want to break the demo's spirits early on, and decided to pad the numbers so the demo could catch up and pull a closer race than normal.

Also, we have confirmation that there will indeed be milestones to get the new unlocks: http://www.tharg.co.uk/tf2/pics/RobinMilestones.jpg

The only way to find a basic default type server is to use the tags on the custom tab in the server browser thingie. You can search specifically for what you want of course, but I'd just sort by the custom bull**** you don't want and then find a server that way.

Plus, if you just want to bypass all the audio/crap downloads when you join a server you can disable that in the options if you want also. Just a heads up.

Quick question:

Is there anyway to find a game which doesn't have all the additional bull**** attached?

I don't want low grav, custom maps, all shots are crits, instant respawns and 32 player chaos. I just want to play TF2. :(

Use the tags section in-game, you can change the tags dropdown to "do not include", then click in the long box and click the "Add common tags..." button. From there select Gravity, respawntimes, and any other tags you want to exclude. It is not a perfect system as server do not have to use tags (or at least, they can change them), but it will cut a bunch of servers out.

You can also use a similar method by changing the tags to "include", then only add tags you want the server to have, such as valve maps, for servers only running official valve maps and what not.

Neither is perfect but as an example, simply excluding the tags "gravity" and "respawntimes" I cut about 1000 servers from my list.

Other than that, once you find a few servers running default settings, add them to you favorites list and jump on them when you want to play.

EDIT: Bleh, beaten to the punch. You can also look around (just googling) for good tf2 servers. I personally do not play them but I hear SourceOP has some good tf2 servers. They have a few default (normal gravity and respawn times, though increased players, but on normal Valve maps) and a couple 24/7 or other variously modded servers. So google around and you may find a couple that people recommend and you may come to like them as well.

heh please. Need a break from the laggy, hack filled, warping, carry-a-thon that is MW2.

All maps 1 and 2 of SpecialAttack are pretty good - http://www.specialattack.net/

And all maps 1 and 2 of LethalZone - http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Lethal-Zone

And possibly my favourite due to locality is TriggerHappyGamers.com - 89.145.117.74:27025

I think both the Spa and LZ servers are hosted in Holland so the pings are pretty good from the UK. THG is UK based.

Very nice. No tradeoffs though?

edit: Where's the new Meet the Team video? :(

The tradeoff is the loss of the shotgun (or bugle, whichever you plan to use).

Now, as a soldier the only time I ever use my shotgun is typically if I am ubered and have unloaded all my rockets into a sentry and need some extra damage, which is pretty rare. If I am up close I either try reloading my RL, or I switch to melee, which with the equalizer, will be even more effective (faster speed and more damage as health drops). So for me its very little tradeoff, other than have no secondary weapon to use.

As for a Meet the Team video, it would have been great to get one but it does not appear to be that way. :(

Holy crap. An update that doesn't include an arena map? I like this update already.(yes, i think arena is crap.)

+1, arena is the worst game mode there is period (even worse than CP or CTF stalemates).

Hah, arena. In my community, there's this group of arena-only players who used to throw a fit at most of the regulars who play on 2fort. :p Arena's not bad for a quick fix - it depends on the map though.

As a soldier that enjoys annoying snipers with rocket jumps, I won't mind losing the shotgun that much.

+1, I love rocketjumping and rarely shotgun my way to victory.

Also, sandman got a huge nerf. It only stuns on maximum distance hits (when the cheer sound plays). Otherwise, it puts the opponent into a "scared" type mode where they throw their arms up and can still run around but cannot fire back.

For this, the scared mode opponents take full damage (no dmg reduction) while it is unclear if stunned opponents take reduced damage or not.
