The new crates are horrible...I'd never waste a key on any strange weapon when they do NOTHING over what you already had in the weapons. It's time Valve starts dropping a special Unusual crate that will allow you to find only Unusual hats but they would be a rare drop like a hat drop is now. At least give ya something to spend the key money on that's legit and good.

According to traders I know, nobody bothers with old crates anymore, a strange weapon is usually almost enough to get another key for it, having another chance at unboxing an unusual.

Speaking of crates, I have three of them but no key. I was wondering if maybe someone would trade a key for something?

Keys usually go for 2.33 refined metal, you can search for people on tf2tp.com

I found out the Black box is far better than the rocket launcher and the Cow Mangler 5000 for racking up kills. THe firing speed or rocket speed is faster, the rate at which the weapon fires is faster and it doesn't need reloading as often. I racked up nine kills as a soldier in one life.

You are experiencing some kind of placebo effect, speed of projectiles from Black Box and Cow Mangler is the same as the stock rocket launcher, same for reloading and firing rate. Weapons with faster projectiles are Liberty Launcher and Direct Hit. Cow Mangler can fire 5 lasers without reloading, Black Box 3, so it does need reloading more often than stock RL.

Yeah possibly, but I seemed to pull off more kills with it. I am definitely getting better, just trying to find the right sensitivity and acceleration to set my mouse. The tough part is that I don't have very good hand/finger coordination and I am trying to play with a keyboard and mouse. I find myself sometimes hitting the wrong keys, not realizing I am holding down a key, getting stuck or pinned up against a wall or in the corner and getting killed. :p

Also while playing I get aches in my fingers, hands, wrists, arms and shoulders and sometimes my hand(s) will fall asleep while playing.

Introducing Steam Trading Beta

trading_beta.jpg

As we all know, Jonas Salk invented money in 1955 so he would have a way to earn a living from his polio vaccine. Before that, people just traded things they found for things that other people had found. So you might "sell" somebody a scrap of carpet, say, in exchange for an old bottle. It was a perfect system with only one drawback: people spent their lives bartering for piles of garbage before dying of polio.

But wait. What if we told you that you could barter for things that weren't garbage, AND not die of polio? Steam Trading Beta lets you securely trade your in-game items for other in-game items from participating games. You can also trade Steam gifts (games on Steam that you've purchased but not yet added to your Games Library).

Want to try it out? In Steam, go to Steam > Settings, and opt into Steam Trading Beta. That's it! Now your Steam Community profile will have an item inventory, and you'll be able to view the item inventories of every public profile in the Steam community.

Now that you've opted into the Trading Beta, you can invite people to trade through Group Chat, and trade with anybody in your Friends List who's also opted in. Just right-click on their name and select "Invite to Trade" from the dropdown menu. Once your friend accepts your offer to trade, a trade window will open up. The first time you open the trade window, a step-by-step walkthrough will guide you through your first trade.

Finally an ability to trade without opening TF2

I can't help but think that Valve may be developing some kind of MMO and all this trading stuff is going to be used for that eventually. Or maybe it'll work with DOTA2. Seems kind of weird to me that they would put in all this work just for TF2.

Doubt it. They're just trying to get more people to spend money in TF2, and having giftable items in trading does that -- people can trade full games now, which is a good idea for everyone. And less scamming, too. Win-win.

I don't understand his issue(s)?

His point (I think) was that the original Medic update was used to encourage more people to play medic, but they they have since introduced weapons for every single class that provide the ability to self-heal, thereby reducing the medic's usefulness.

Bit of a bad point at that; none of the self-heals are really anywhere close to being substansive enough to invalidate or discourage medics.

And the Kunai a self-heal. Really? Seems more of a joke video than a serious one.

Seems kind of weird to me that they would put in all this work just for TF2.

Will there be other games that support trading?

We?re working now with other game developers to incorporate both Trading and Inventories. Portal 2 should be reasonably soon and we hope to have several third-party games in the next few months.

Valve is just making Steam a friendlier place for F2P games.

If anyone wants to trade TF2 items, add me (Ayepecks). I've got tons of crates, 8 refined metals, some vintage weapons, a few hats I'd be willing to trade (two vintage - Prussian and Hound Dog). I'm looking for keys (I will get an unusual hat one day!), any relatively unique hats (unusuals too, but I really don't have enough to trade for one), and earbuds (apparently the currency in trading  ).

New favorite item set: The Special Delivery (previous favorite was The Clinical Trial). Seriously, the accuracy of the Shortstop and the extra 25 health is amazing. I racked up 20 points with the Mad Milk bonus (putting out teammates on fire) and got 11 kills before dying my first go-around as a Scout, and I'm not even a great Scout.
