$75 for a plastic casing and some adapters? That seems quite a bit steep, especially since they've have ordered multiple millions. I know the site says they're just estimates, but it seems to be an estimate that's a ways off. I can't see it even costing Microsoft $75 to have it in stores.

No, they really couldn't. It's not just a hard drive. Unless they were to allow users to bring their own HDD and then have the console download the necessary files/modifications/whatever from the Marketplace but I'm not sure how practical that really is. It also poses a security risk.

What security risk?

The content you have bought online is tied to your XBL username.

The hard drive itself when put into a 360 would be formatted to the 360's proprietary file system before the system could be used, so anything on it would be wiped.

      I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....
