Killzone 2

I thought that they were horrible, the onion bhaji ones are pretty nice; I've only tried thou two flavours so far.

You have to manually input all trophies in for the PS3 which sucks ballss, why they can't have a system like xbox live where it puts them online on a server I know not its really rather irritating!

I've tried all the flavours, would say that the Duck ones are the best, then Chilli/Chocolate :) worst ones are the Cajun ones qhich are just a bit meh and nothing special.

Oh so the GT review was up fairly early, SOMEONE told me they release reviews much closer to the release date - That's a big fail for you mystery man!

A hint, starts with an A and ends in udioboxer

Just passing on the info off the GT forums :p

Killzone 2 - Developer Q&A - Part 1

This is ‘Part 1′ of our Q&A summary, this article focuses more on the offline and singleplayer aspects.

‘Part 2′ will be out later today for the online and multiplayer focused questions.

Seb Downie (aka motherh) is the QA manager at Guerilla Games.

Over the last few days, he has been replying to questions from the Killzone community over at the SCEA forums.

At the time of writing, there are just under 900 posts, spread out between around 90 pages.

However, we have trawled through it all to bring you some of the more interesting questions and answers.

Will there be an option to customize your controls as you want them?

There are 6 pre-sets. Not so much full customization. Stick with the standard one. Works best.

Will the demo on the 5th be Single Player only?

It will be SP, yes.

What difficulties will be available in the demo?

Normal only.

Is there an unlockable difficulty?

Yes, the top one, Elite.

Is the Killzone 2 going to be region-locked?

No. You can choose to play against people in your region or worldwide.

Editor’s Note - If you were wondering, the disc itself is not region locked either.

Any news on a release date for Asian territories, or will we have to import it like KZ Liberation?

We’re working on Asian versions, they will be released later. More on that soon.

Editor’s Note - According to SCEJ’s site, it will be releasing April 23rd over there.

Any news on an official Collector’s Edition?

There will be no Collector’s Edition. Only a steel tin one for Europe. Finding out more.

Will there be a patch for split screen co-operative play?

No.

Why wasn’t split screen included with the game?

It is not as simple as you might think as you would need to render everything twice on one screen. It was considered, but we decided to spend our time and resources on single player and online multiplayer primarily.

How many weapons are there in the game?

Including emplaced, I think 21 for Campaign. Edit: 22, forgot the knife.

Throughout your testing did you reach a balance between classes and their weapons? I hate playing a game where 1 weapon can really be the only thing you need to use to win.

I think we managed that, yes. We have spent a good year and a half playing online internally followed by some Sony internal Alpha testing which resulted in a heck of a lot of balancing, followed by three phases of the beta. So I think we’ve pretty much nailed it. If something does come up post-release, we should be able to patch it up though.

Can you take in-game screenshots, upload videos, use custom music etc?

Multiplayer will let you play music from the XMB, no screenshot ability etc on release, might patch it in.

Did Rico ever found out what a ‘Shakespeare’ is?

Yes, but now he is confused about what to do with an Einstein. Drink it or throw it.

Editor’s Note - If you were wondering, this is a reference to the campaign of Killzone 1.

That is it for ‘Part 1′, ‘Part 2′ will be publised later today for the online and multiplayer focused questions, if you want to read the article as soon as it comes out, get updates on GamersDigest articles by email or RSS.

Order the limited edition at ShopTo for only ?32.99, the standard version is only ?29.99.

[quotKillzone 2 - Multiplayer Maps Previewb>

Following on from our previous Killzone 2 multiplayer video feature, this time we take a brief look at each of the eight maps included on the Blu-ray disc.

Eight may not sound like an awful lot, but when they range from sandy deserts, derelict market squares, sleek army barracks and a Helghast outpost set aback a nuclear wasteland, the variety and expansiveness of each of the maps will undoubtedly be more than enough to keep your interest. And with more maps said to be included in future DLC packs, it’s clear that Killzone 2 will be every PS3 user’s online game of choice for a long time to come.

Killzone 2 Set for Impressive launch in the UK

Being able to find great gaming bargins here in the UK as retailers try and get people to spend money again, every so often I look online to see what gems i can find with a small budget. However over the last few days i have noticed that Killzone 2 seems to be topping all the sales charts.

A quick summary shows us:

* Play.com - Ranked 1# in Pre-Order chart

* Amazon.co.uk - Ranked 1# in all Video Game Chart

* Shopto.net - Ranked 1 & 2# in Pre-Order Chart (Normal edition and Tin Edition)

* Game.co.uk Ranked 2# in Pre-Order Chart

I?m sure you can see where i?m going with this. It does appear that the recent reviews and hype are turning into sales and whats interesting is that the game is ranked that high on all sales charts and there is still over 3 weeks before the game is released. This information really does give the impression that Killzone 2 is set for a great first day sales here in the UK and this is news i?m sure Sony will be very happy about.

[Gamespot Killzone 2: Review Statusus

You may have heard about a little game called Killzone 2. It is possibly the most anticipated game on the PlayStation 3, and I've been fortunate enough to have finished the single player campaign and played several hours of multiplayer. Today, February 2nd, is the review embargo date; in other words, Sony will allow American online reviews of Killzone 2 to be posted as early as today. European reviews and exclusive reviews had already popped up, as you may have noticed, although the game isn't released until February 27th--more than three weeks from now.

However, we've decided not to rush a review to publication for several reasons. The most important is Killzone 2's multiplayer component. There have been three one-hour multiplayer sessions to date for members of the American press. However, Killzone 2's online play is complex. It uses a class-based system with seven total classes, but these classes (among weapons, upgrades, and many other perks) are only unlocked once you have reached the appropriate level. In just over three hours of play, the two of us joining these sessions had yet to unlock a new class. It takes many, many hours of online play to unlock them, and it would be improper for us to review class-based multiplayer without actually experiencing the classes. The other multiplayer factor is that these sessions did not take place on retail servers, and used an earlier build of the game than the one that will be on the disc you buy. It is our policy never to knowingly review a game using software that does not represent the same game you will purchase on store shelves.

I know with so many reviews already being posted that it's disappointing that you don't see one from GameSpot yet--but we'd rather get it right than rush it. After all, Killzone 2 won't be out for over three weeks from now; racing to publish a review that isn't informed by incredibly important aspects of the online game would be doing you a disservice. The good news is that because the review embargo is up, we can post videos, screens, and more about the game--and we decided to start off with an impressions feature. Chris Watters, Andre Segers and I sat down to talk about our impressions of Killzone 2, so if you want some initial thoughts, here are plenty of them to tide you over!

We will also be publishing loads of gameplay video and screens for you to gaze at with longing. In addition, over the next couple of weeks, I will be updating this blog with looks at various features of Killzone 2, from multiplayer classes, to weapons, to single-player levels. Trust me: I know you're hungry for anything you can get. But never fear, shooter fans, for I will be here to overwhelm you with as much information as I can!

What is it competing with in the pre-order chart, it's like a freaking desert in the gaming scene

It's still #1 in the Amazon chart which is all games, not just preorders - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/vid.../ref=sv_vg_h__8

i pre-ordered it about a month ago at a local gamestore, which means i can get it on launchday for 60 euros or get it from amazon for 40 and wait a week or two for it to come in... :( i'm really tempted to just get it on release as there is nothing to hold me over really, hopefully gta's DLC will get me hooked on another game to keep me busy till i get KZ2 though, we'll see. :p

What does that change? It'll be one of the biggest First Person Shooters in the first half or more of 2009, combine that with a dry-spell in the gaming scene, what do you get? It barely has any competition, none on the FPS side so obviously it's going to be on top, a no brainer.

considering it's competing with nothing.

RE5/Halo Wars/SF4 :p

Not nothing, maybe not anything as highly hyped, but hey, that's the benefit of firing out a large game at a quieter time.

That's not even competition, plus none of them are FPS, one of the most popular genres - So it's not directly competing with anything and barely indirectly - It has the playing field for itself (Y)

And yes, quiet time releases are great, it's so easy on the wallet :p

I gave in, went for a retail pre-order as well as opposed to the cheaper amazon pre-order.... I need to have it on day 1. Even if it's at a higher price.

Part 2 of the Developer Q&A [Part 1 on previous page]

Deals with a lot of MP related questions.

Part 2 Q&A Multi Player

If balancing issues occur, will Guerilla support the game with patches?

Ah yes. Depends on the severity of course and whether it is considered a real issue or not. Some people might just get ****ed off about catching rockets with their faces and start moaning “boohoo the rockets kill me all the time” when in fact they suck a bit. We’ll watch the game carefully post release.

If glitches and/or cheats start to surface in KZ2, then how extensive of support can we expect from Guerilla to not only fix the problems, but deal with those who abuse them?

There will also be online moderation and banning taking place if the user agreement is broken.

Can you confirm that players would be able to get kicked by a vote system?

Yes.

Will Killzone 2 be push to talk or open talk?

Open.

Will there be an option to mute a player?

Yes.

Is it possible to rank up by just playing against bots?

No, need to play real people.

How have you balanced the bots, did you tweak them to make it fairer?

We have 3 difficulty settings for bots.

Can nearby enemies hear you on proximity chat, similar to SOCOM?

Sure.

Will you be able to manually select the room/server you want to join in multiplayer (like in KZL) or will that be done by automatic search only?

We have both.

Are the servers dedicated or peer to peer?

Dedicated.

How do you find the rooms that your friends are in?

We have a Join Friend option.

What are the kinds of options you can customize to your likings in a Private match? Like running speed, jump height?

Not so much the basic mechanics, but more options such as limiting weapons, the points scored, timings of the modes and so on.

Is there going to be an option for me to disable certain badges and badge combinations as well as some weapons in custom games?

Yes!

Will there be an option for a dying soldier to prevent himself from being revived? Sort of like a “do not revive” button while you’re laying on the ground?

1. Headshots ensure you cannot be revived.

2. Players injured after becoming mortally wounded, cannot be revived, i.e., they are finished off.

3. You can always tell a medic over comms to let you die.

4. The player is very briefly invurneable after being revived.

Yeah it was an issue in the beta. Someone actually did this to our Online Designer Eric Boltjes to prove a point. Kept shooting and reviving him. He had to have it fixed after that.

Will Killzone 2 Multiplayer have a Prestige mode like CoD4?

No we don’t have prestige mode. What we have is the ranks as well as the medals and ribbons that the player needs to earn.

Could you tell us how many points we will have to get to be a General? In the beta it was 2800, I figured you guys raised the bar, eh?

Still 2800

Can you arrange SQUADS before entering the map?

You can set up your squads in the pre-game lobby yes.

Can respawns be turned off in online multiplayer?

There is no respawn settings for games at present, but I have seen this come up a few times. It is something we will have to think about. Not sure how complicated it would be to add.

Can someone make their own clan tournament? or are tournaments controlled by Guerilla Games?

Can do both.

How does each round of the tournament work? Is there a time in which all the games must be completed by? Is it up to the clans when to decide to play each other?

You can set up the time between the rounds yourself. Can make a round a night, or multiple rounds in one day. The person setting up the tournament decides this.

In a clan, how many ranks are there?

Leader, Officer and Member.

How many of each rank can you have?

One leader, as many officers as you want, a total of 64 clan members.

What are the main differences between the leader and officers?

Officers cannot kick members, create more officers and are optional. They can however accept challenges or make their own and invite players to the clan.

How many valor points does your clan start out with, and if you manage to lose them is there any way to gain some back?

Starts out with 100. Playing tournaments can get you can valor.

With features does the clan system have, beside the valour points?

You get your own clan page where you can post news, challenge rivals and manage your clan in-game and also plenty of functionality on the official Killzone site that links back into the game.

Dedicated servers FTW! And 64 players in a clan is good.

That's not even competition, plus none of them are FPS, one of the most popular genres - So it's not directly competing with anything and barely indirectly - It has the playing field for itself (Y)

And yes, quiet time releases are great, it's so easy on the wallet :p

Quiet time for you maybe :p I have 3 preorders right now, and still have F.E.A.R 2 (another fps in the same time frame btw :p) as well as Race Pro to play :(

February is the new November.

Edit: just read the above, if the servers crap out on day one (especially) I'ma be p***ed!

Kinda glad we have open chat, but I hate having the other team hear you :(

February is the new November.

That's because I only go for the big hitters ;)

And F.E.A.R is just a generic shooter.

You know what I seen today? [related to the idea of shelves of games]

In Zavvi, you know Zavvi, the place in administration, closing stores everywhere?

UT3 PS3 for ?50.

YES,FIFTY ****ING QUID>. New games don't even retail at that.

Whoever priced that was off their face on smack.... I went in to see if I could get any cheap games due to you know, them being desperate for money. And they try to charge people ?50 for UT3. WAY TO GO ZAVVI, SINK YOURSELF.

Left without buying anything surprisingly enough.

50 quid is actually CHEAPER that new games over here. At the moment 50 GBP would translate to 55 EUR, which is in fact 9,03GBP cheaper than the usual retail price for new, mediocre games.

Killzone 2 retails here for 72GBP, I managed to get it pre-ordered for 59GBP, which is cheap.

    • Ocenaudio 3.19.3 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display.
