Sony: We have the best games line-up

Recommended Posts

No, we expect them to shut up.

Sony has used up all of their life lines when it comes to embarrassing and incorrect statements.

Why should he shut up, hes just singing his consoles praises just like Microsoft and Nintendo are doing with theirs, what he said has had the desired effect, everyone is talking about it.

Their game line up is quite rubbish compared to the Wii's.

Please, the only thing going for Nintendo is the latest "casual" gamer fad, their massive list of shovelware 3rd party titles dont do them any favours, people buy Nintendo for Nintendo 1st party Mario and Zelda games. The rest just buy it because they are sheep and its the latest fad to have.

Call me crazy, but based off of E3 which is what this is, I actually do think Sony has the better overall GAMES lineup.

Sure, MS blew them away with the overall presentation and new additions to the console, but as far as Games, I am more Sony this year, and this could change at the drop of the dime since I am not loyal to either, I just go where the games are.

So based on their presentations, Gears Of War 2 is literally the only MS exclusive game I am concerned about.

All the other games I am interested in like RE5 & Fallout 3 that MS showed at their conference are multi platform, so I do not even count them as there is a choice. I am not a Fable person, so no huge interest in that, although I do plan on checking it out.

However, I am definitely interested in Resistance 2, SOCOM, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Infamous, The Agency, MAG (horribly gay name), and DC Universe.

So right there, just from my perspective as an FPS/Action type of gamer, Sony actually does have more exclusives that interest me at the moment than MS does.

Hence why I own both consoles, so I could always get the best of both worlds.

Only game I'm looking forward to is Animal Crossing City Folk. I'm a big fan of the series, but it looks to be a very big rehash of Wild World unfortunately :/

Other than that nothing interests me, not until at least another Zelda, Mario & Metroid comes along anyway..

Hence why I own both consoles, so I could always get the best of both worlds.

Ditto (Y)

Although I am a big FPS/Action type gamer I really like to switch the pace up a lot, so I think that's why MS are more appealing to me this year with Fable and Viva Pinata/Banjo.

Although Sony have a lot of my attention due to LBP.

Crazy!

I agree with you though, the PS3 has more games that I'm looking forward too. Owning both is the way to go though!!

It seems it's a place holder.

Word is the game may carry the Socom branding and end up essentially being Socom 4.

As for this news article, gaming world making mountains out of molehills over PR as usual.

I don't see why it is embarrassing, every company does it.

And in my opinion, I would agree that other consoles for the rest of this year at least have a weaker line up so far.

There are great games coming out for all consoles, well, not the Wii, but there are more that I am looking forward to on the Ps3.

I am hoping to get an Xbox360 for when Gears2 comes out, and be able to buy the past good games cheaper too. :D

However there is nothing in the future of the Wii that I want.

^^^That is such a lame excuse to defend Sony. Sony's CEO's and Marketilng have been, by far, the loudest, noisiest, and perhaps most ill-witted of any I've seen the last few years. Comment after comment after comment comes things that really, if they had any common sense, they wouldn't be saying at all. You guys keep saying others do it, but I guarantee you can't come of with anyone who's done it as much and as frequently in the last 3 or 4 years as Sony has. And besides all that, just because others do it too does not justify it at all for Sony, so really, there's not even an argument in that excuse.

Like what was said before, we don't expect them to say they have a crappy lineup, we expect them to know when to shut their mouths.

Were you pointing at me? :p

No one is saying that Sony have a clean record or are justifying them bitching about other consoles game lineup, but other companies do it too, maybe not as much as Sony, especially in the year running up to the Ps3 launch, it was horrible. But all companies do it none the less, so moaning at Sony is useless, no company is going to sit and say nothing.

God would interviews be boring

"so what do you think of your fall lineup?"

"oh, you know, can't really say"

It would be dreadful PR, it would come off like they had no confidence in their own products.

Everyone and every company is entitled to their own opinions, and since Sony are trying to get people to want their games and their system they are going to say they have the best line up.

But it doesn't mean you have to listen or believe them in any way, I like to think we on the forum have a little more common sense than to follow what these companies come out with half the time.

I still think the Steve Ballmer one is by far the worst.

Really? I love that ****. The best reason to go to the company meeting every year is to see Ballmer go crazy like that :p

It's why I call him Microsoft's "head coach."

It was a company event. It's not like he was doing that a press event or sales sort of thing...

QFT, Sony have really damaged themselves with this whole arogant approach that they've used the past few years.

 I think the guy's a tool. Ho hum, each to our own.

Yet the PS3 still has great games, is still selling well, and still has new exclusive IPs coming on board.

Hardly damaged themselves have they?

to be honest, I would go to an event just to see him run around like that, maybe mix it up with different types of music to see him groove out to. :p

The guy has got to be mental, lol.

It's not the amount of exclusives that matters, it's the quality of the games you present overall.

Between MS and Sony, this year looked to me like last year: MS focused on what's coming out this year, Sony showed a bit of this year and next year.

Oh not at all. Much the same way the RROD didn't damage the 360's reputation  :p

Give me a break and take the rose tinted glasses off for once. Of course they've damaged their reputation & sales.

The RROD is slightly different to the PR nonsense that every single company spouts.

Glasses are off mate, it's raining here :(

We all have different views on the matter obviously, so no point going around in circles. And as we've seen on the previous page it's starting to get out of hand with some members responses. So why don't we all just agree to bow out of this discussion before it creates even more mess on the forums.

As for raining, it's 25 degrees here and sunny/hot as hell. Maybe time to migrate North? :p

Probably the best idea.

It's a lovely day here, though I fear going out as I don't want to melt, not use to the sun here in wales or at all, lol.

    • too bad the "backend" June 2026 ESD files are still at build 26200.8653 and not at the correct build 26200.8655 release. I'll avoid using the MCT for several weeks until late July 2026
    • Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip brings on-device AI to Android XR devices by Pradeep Viswanathan Qualcomm has been delivering dedicated SoCs for mixed reality and spatial computing devices for several years. The journey started with the Snapdragon XR1, followed by the Snapdragon XR2 in 2019, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in September 2023, and finally the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 in 2024. Today, Qualcomm announced a major upgrade with the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, which targets premium mixed reality and spatial computing devices. OEMs can use this SoC to power both all-in-one video-see-through headsets and lightweight, tethered optical-see-through glasses. Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon Reality Elite will power the next wave of Android XR devices coming later this year. These wearables will offer better visuals, improved power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI integration compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing large language models and large vision models to run directly on the device for the first time. In addition to enabling new spatial AI experiences, these new AI capabilities will improve head and hand tracking, as well as see-through features. On the performance side, the Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% higher CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The platform supports visuals of up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second for sharper images and smoother motion. Qualcomm is also claiming significant efficiency improvements. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can offer up to 20% longer battery life under the same workload. More importantly, the chipset can run up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, making headsets more comfortable for users to wear for longer periods. The platform also includes improvements to video see-through, featuring lower latency and better image quality. Qualcomm states that its EVA hardware block helps accelerate demanding computer vision workloads, improving how digital content blends with the real world.
    • Umm... GitHub continues to use AWS. That's the story, that's the headline. There's no "new" news here. GitHub continues to require additional capacity beyond the originally-planned Azure allocations. There's nothing special about this; nothing noteworthy. They're still using AWS' infra until the cutover is complete.
