Fred Derf Veteran Posted March 10, 2003 Veteran Share Posted March 10, 2003 Hi, I'd like the volume of this PC (running XP) to mute at midnight and unmute at 7am. I looked into ZVolume Pro which can issue a command line mute via a batch file but heaven forbid I mute the sound at 11pm because at 12 the batch file will unmute the sound (it gets it backwards). This is because ZVolume Pro uses the same command to Mute and to Unmute. It would theoretically work if I never tried to mute the volume manually or if I always remembered to restore the sound to the correct AM/PM setting. Does anybody have a proper solution for this? It's a stupid little thing but I'd like it to work. And I don't want to hear if your Macintosh does this automatically.

hurting101
Do you have to use ZVolume? There are many other similar command line apps that will do what you want, such as wizmo. There are seperate parameters for muting and unmuting the sound. Here's what it is to mute it: wizmo quiet mute=1 Note: the "quiet" is needed so you don't hear an annoying chime. Fred Derf Veteran Posted March 10, 2003 Author Veteran Share Posted March 10, 2003 wizmo Yea thanks, that seems way cool. I didn't come across that one before. I'm not a huge fan of Steve Gibson but this seems to do the trick.
