The critics may have panned it at 22% over on Rotten Tomatoes, but it seems the fans are loving it at 82% over there.

Yeah, I was just over there looking at that. Sometimes I think the critics have outlasted their usefulness. Everything I like they pan.

They have, if they were objective about stuff like how I remember long ago then it wouldn't be a problem but now more and more reviewers are tossing in their own views more and more and making a review totaly onesided, they'll either really hate something or really like it, there's no nice middle ground or w/e.

Hell the only people you should be asking is the diehard comic fans I say. If they don't hate it "as much" then it's a good movie.

You too 'eh? Sometimes they synch with the real world, but more often they swoon over art house fare no normal person in their right mind would spend money on.

Audience: it was being shown in 3 theaters - two 2D and one in 3D. The parking lot was packed and our 5:00 PM 2D showing was a sellout. They enjoyed it - especially when Hal prevailed - and at the end it got some applause, especially from the kids.

Me: this is Martin Campbell film - meaning it has a few too many inter-cuts (back & forth between scenes) which hurts continuity. I think that put off professional reviewers and a few others. Expected.

Other than that the eye candy was great, the story adequate (it's an origin story fer chrissake) and it had a few laughs. Ryan Reynolds was good, coming through when things had to get serious. Blake Lively was good enough as Carol Ferris (not her fault - a script issue) and will be a hot Star Sapphire, Mark Strong was spot-on as Sinestro, but Peter Sarsgaard was just adequate as Hector Hammond (again, script issues.)

NOT as bad as the 23% RottenTomatoes score would indicate.

I'd score it 7.5 to 8/10.

I just saw it (in 2D) and I thought it was pretty good. As an origin story, it was very good. They did a fairly good job explained *some* things.

It's certainly better than a 23% on RT. I'd probably give it an 8 or so. As a comic geek, the movie was made for me though so I am biased a little bit :D

Also, the Parralax fight was to short. But then again, they couldn't really make it super long either. Hammond was just screaming the entire time heh. But I REALLY love how Sinestro had the Yellow power ring made, Hal makes this speech on how they can't use it ever etc, and then Sinestro never destroys the ring :D Hmmmmmmmmmm

Awesome movie. I enjoyed every bit of it. I really hope they make a sequel and judging by the post-credits scene, it seems like they will make one. :)

It will depend on money taken at BO and critical response (which has been very poor)

    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
    • Now disable that stupid OneDrive backup request when Windows starts please. So unbelievably frustrating to only have “remind me later” instead of “no and never ask me again”
    • Hello, The Media Creation Tool is still at v10.0.26100.7019 from October 2025. Just looks like the backend has been updated. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Since they open sourced the calculator in Win 10/11 it is much better and can do a lot, I love it.
    • That's just silly imo. The lengths that man goes to just to avoid W11 is just nuts. Very, very few home users would do that. I will say this though, he is committed. Btw, I note on askwoody that Woody Leonhard passed away March, 2025 aged 73. His site was one of my favorites back in the day. Belated yes but RIP Woody.
