This thread really? Want, want, want! People do it your own damn self. Just like the start button above. Add it your own self. I don't need the word start. You guys are wanting to much stupid crap added. I could keep going but I will stop. This is the best theme ever made. I think gigatexel wanted it to be simple and clean when he first started it. Thats just my 2 cents.

Go ahead rip me a new one but read my Sig first.

LOL... take a deep breathe and repeat after me, "I will not flame the 'do nots, want lots'..." ;)

I agree. Obviously when gigatexel or saint dark ask for everyone's opinion and what they might like to see, that's one thing, but the constant asking for this or this is definately getting old. Sometimes it's understandable to see if someone is willing to make a skin for say WMP or Winamp, because not all of us are capable of doing so. However when that request is repeated 10 times over it's not. When it comes to simple bitmap changes in the visual style, there is little excuse for demanding that something be changed, when damn near anyone can do it themselves (if you're using custom visual styles by having "hacked" or replaced the DLL and not just using StyleXP, then you can definately do it). I'm not saying that saying "hey this would be cool..." is wrong, it's just that people need to learn to do two things, 1) read through the thread to make sure it hasn't been brought up before, or at least ask nicely if it has, and 2) take some initiative and experiment on your own.

This is gigatexel's and saint dark's project and as such it will reflect their wishes (expecially as far as the visual style is concerned). Hence my bringing up the whole idea of "mod packs". These would include the necessary files (usually bitmaps) needed to make modifications as well as instructions on doing so.

I'm not trying to be an ass here, just trying to let people know that most of us have enough going on elsewhere than to have to be continuously harassed about doing this or that. Honestly, don't be afraid to ask for help if you truly need it, but don't do so out of pure laziness. Good things will come to those who wait.

ummm... "duh"

i love the ideas for the new start menu - especially the last design - but after that, i think they should just go with their "here's our release, and here are a bunch of things you can add by yourself" plan

when something gets this many fans/followers, it's impossible to keep everyone happy

Seriously!

I say let Giga do what he wants with the start menu. He's not gonna kill it and make it suck. I can assure you of that. And the start button. People, make your own! They'll release official packs, and you release yours. Don't go making gigatexel and [saint dark] bust their asses any more than they have!

Okay, calming down.

jaged, I agree with the statement, but that wasn't me you quoted ;)

rschultz2002 made that little comment and then I followed up with a rather long one right after.

I'll repeat my advice, take a deep breathe and repeat after me, "I will not flame the 'do nots, want lots'..." :D

And to your 'do nots, want lots' rule, it's just so friggin hard! I get annoyed at these people that ask the same things over and over again!

Yeah I know. But soon enough you will be able to just say... "Read the motherf#@%ing FAQ!" :D

You could even change your user title to "3v1l l33t ph4x0r" (or however that is done)... then everyone can just say, "you're such a mean FAQQER..."

Lol. FAQQER good. Lol.

Ok I did not say anything about the start menu. I don't care about it. I use the classic start menu anyway. I am just sick people asking for the same stuff over and over and so on.

I don't think that was aimed at you, rather the very same people you were getting annoyed with.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
