FW updates don't kill drives, they probably died on their own during/after the update. Just coincidence I guess.

I am not too worried if my system gets bricked during a FW update since I have a warranty from Best Buy for 2 years. Anything wrong happens and I get a new one. Thank goodness for these warranties.
