Who's the BEST character in this movie?

Is there any Love/Romance?

I personally loved Carl and Russell both. I definitely have a soft spot for outspoken, little children and old, grumpy elderly too. :)

Oh my gosh, is their love and romance. Let me just tell you that is where I was 1. pleasantly surprised, since I wasn't expecting it at all and 2. completely choked up by the touching story they portray. You will seriously laugh, cry and everything above with this film!

Saw the 3D version over the weekend.... absolutely loved it. It took a bit to convince my wife to go to a "cartoon" as she called it. She had no idea about it and isnt fond of the movie experience (kids, people talking, etc.) so it was an uphill battle to start off with. Long story short, she loved it and apologized for giving me such a hard time. I will admit Wall-E was my first pixar movie in a very long time and I loved that movie as well, I will say that the 2 movies should not be compared as they are such a different experience/story... that said.. Up should win best animated film @ the Oscars... now to go a bit more into it...

PLEASE DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE MOVIE - MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!! and a bit of drama from me

I am currently 29 years old, grew up in New Jersey, middle income family, bought a townhouse, got married to the woman of my dreams and hope to start a family soon. This past November I lost my mother to cancer. My parents were married for 39 years and to this day I cannot remember seeing my father "upset" (before my mother was sick/past away). Up! is deep, well.. at least for me it was. Carls emotions after his wife past away hit home for me, it really reminded me of my dad (whos in his 60s) not that he became a grumpy old man but that he felt as if he lost half of himself. This is why I loved this movie so much, Pixar didnt make it only about a kid, a bird and some talking dogs with a flying house, it had meaning... I swear I almost lost it at the end when he opened up the book that his wife finished on the "stuff to do" list, even being 29 years old with a house/wife I keep feeling like I should be doing something "important" in my life... similar to how Carl felt like they never got around to going to the falls with his wife because "things" kept happening... but those "things" were LIFE and was his life with his wife.. anyway I'll stop rambling... I absolutely loved this movie

The House from UP discovered?

One of the items I mentioned in last week?s feature, Easter Eggs in Pixar?s Up, was that Carl Fredricksen?s house was inspired by a Victorian house near Sixth Street in Berkeley, CA. After spending a good half hour virtually driving down the street on Google Maps, I came across a home that might have been the inspiration, but didn?t really look like the house from the film. Turns out, it wasn?t the house that inspired Carl?s house in the movie.

The awesome guys at SFGate actually drove around Berkley and Oakland, and found what I believe must be the house that inspired the film. The house they discovered not only has a lot of architectural similarities, but is also jacked up about ten feet off the ground, and it appears to have been in this condition for quite some time. Read this, this morning. Had me crackin' up. Sadly someone will definitely pick this by accident.

Who Needs 'Up' When We've Got This Similarly-Themed, Like-Titled Movie?

whats-up-balloon-poster.jpg

If you and your family loved seeing Pixar's Up in theaters, then you'll be positively delighted in a couple months when dad accidentally rents What's Up balloon to the rescue on DVD! It's the slightly less whimsical tale of an elderly man who uses a single hot air balloon--rather than the silly, less practical notion of many helium balloons--to lift his house and go on an adventure with a child who wears glasses--not a scout uniform!--maybe a mom, and some other people! Looking for a movie with a talking dog? You've found it!* And this dog sure doesn't need a special collar! It speaks of its own accord!

Yes, this is the one DVD that will have your kids asking "What's Up?" Because they'll have abandoned their knowledge of the Pixar film in favor of charming memories of What's Up Balloon to the Rescue!

*Movie may not actually contain a talking dog.

I watched it a few days ago and it brought a lot of emotions out of me. After going through a rought break up and watching it, it kind of puts things in a perspective. Life is truly what you make of it and perspective is the point of this entire movie.

Pixar always kicks ass, and this movie was amazing. I recommend it to everyone.

A couple weeks ago we told you the details of Disney?s DVD/Blu-ray release of Pixar?s Up. But we didn?t know at the time that the film will also be released in an awesome Limited Edition Collector?s Set which will surely excite Pixar fanatics.

Inspired by the Pixar?s bouncy little lamp which appears in the animation studio?s logo (and originates from the 1986 short flm), this Collectible Luxo Jr. Desk Lamp Premium Combo Pack comes with a custom-crafted lamp and base which was specially designed to ?hold and highlight your Disney Pixar Blu-ray collection.? This set comes packaged with a Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy of Up. No details on if the Luxo Jr lamp moves around, but I would expect it has some kind of animatronic movement. It has been reported that the lamp actually turns on.

The MSRP on the limited edition set it a little expensive - $199.99, but discount retailers will have it much cheaper. For example, Amazon has it for 30% off on preorder for $139.99. I think it would be cool to house all my Pixar DVD and Blu-ray?s next to Luxo Jr, but whats the chances that the base compartment that holds the movies can expand for future releases? Not likely. I guess you could look at as a collector?s set for the company?s first 10 movies.
