Haven't read much of this thread. I have been playing it since release (though I'm not THAT high level yet as it's only been ~2 hours a night) and I must say that I REALLY like this game. The only problem I have had so far is the item box doesn't close when you loot the items for me. Not a big deal, but still a tad annoying.

So what is T2/T3?

How do RvR work? How does PvE work?

The zones are divided into 4 tiers you can go into depending on Rank (level), Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4. This will change the scenarios, gear, etc. They're basically just zones.

RvR works in that you can flag yourself for RvR at any time, anywhere, but certain zones are RvR only - these zones have things such as keeps that you can take, RvR quests, etc. It's pretty cool. You also have scenarios you can participate in, they are particular to each "tier" and therefor levels. If you join a scenario that's too low-level, you'll be turned into a chicken when you join and all you can do is peck that causes 1 damage. So you tend to stick to scenarios in your tier.

The quests are like WoW, there are PvE quests but they seem a lot less .. boring. Also, Public Quests are always happening and always take a lot of people to do, these are scattered around the world in "chapters" and give you influence. Influence can be accumulated to get rewards, and after the PQ is over, if you had a lot of inf in that instance of it, you get a chance to roll for loot.

That's a very dumbed down version of it..try it, it's amazing, I assure you that there will be no regrets if you like PvPing and MMOs in general!

My brother got this a couple days ago. After having a few problems with the disk not creating an .exe file (yeah...I know...happened with a lot of AU/NZ disks) we got it all sorted. He loves it and I've yet to play it...might use his account while he's away.

Do it (Y)

Anyone get lots of stuttering when playing? I am playing it on:

T7500

3GB

8400M GS

Vista

Although the card is not the best, it meets recommended requirements. I am running on Fastest Framerate, and at 1280x800, and getting LOTS of computer lag, 100% sure it's not server. Also, what's up with spell animations? If you get interrupted/pushback, it looks stupid..hope they fix it.

I just installed XP and downloading the retail CDs this time around instead of the beta client. They helped a few people with the lag, and I am willing to try anything.

No stutter problems here.

Vista x64 Ultimate

C2D E7200

Radeon HD4850

4GB DDR2-800

All maxed, 1680x1050, 16x AF, 24x FSAA

Won't stutter even during heavy raiding, check your system :/

Ya, just reformatted and installed XP. Hopefully CDs will be ready when I get home. 8400 is a decent enough card to play this game without lag, no matter what people say, especially since I am running it on Fastest Framerate

What Nvidia Driver version are you using? I had started playing the game with 175.19 which were the last official drivers Nvidia has released and had constant crashes.

I installed the beta 177.92 and had completely smooth sailing, so you might want to give them a go.

Finally hit level 20 tonight, first thing I did, was go get my mount...lol! ( 15 gold)

The Black Orc Helms are getting so cool, as I level. I have one that looks like a german WWII field helm and my newest one encloses almost all of the face.

If I remember I'll post some pics...

Just hit 20 on my Disciple of Khaine and I am loving the melee healer/support role. My guilds been pretty active with keep sieges and thats prob my favorite part of the game so far, getting everyone online that we can and rolling up to a keep over 50 people strong (with some members of our alliance guild), setting the siege equipment up, and taking a keep. This weekend we're moving up to the tier 3 keeps, which have an extra wall around them and much stronger defenses, so should be a blast!

not feeling DoK at all

do they get a lot better at higher levels?

they're supposed to be a utility class but i think their healing and DPS just isn't up to par for it. or i'm just sucking lol

it's like a melee version of WoW's shadow priest but worse =\

Use this chart

Damage

DoK>Shaman>Zealot

Healing

Zealot>Shaman>DoK

This is how it should fall if they are playing the best they can.

Order its

Damage

WP>AM>RP

Healing

RP>AM>WP

See how it works?

Just want to ask those who have played this game:

I'm planning to buy it with some friends. Most likely we'll be on the same side of war (chaos or order), but different races. My question is whether it's possible to meet up together even though I'm an Elf, another is a dwarf, etc? In WoW, technically you can't (i think) because the place is so far apart that it'll take ages to quest together

the different races have different starting areas. Of course you should be able to walk to the other starting area. In wow you can do the same, with risk of course but you can.

You can also easily queue from anywhere if grouped.

I bailed after the head start access ended as the trend is becoming all to clear for me. The problem with Camelot and all realm based games is population disparity and apparently WAR gave this point little to no consideration. I'm tired of the underdog aspect of world pvp so if I'm going to be stuck in a BG anyway I'd stick with WoW and Conan does siege soooo much better there really isn't anything worthwhile here for me.

Queue times have been horrendous once you get out of the n00b area as well and I hate that they limit what maps are available to each lvl range. I really liked the dwarf/human start BGs but the new ones are as crappy as the elf starter one.

Really? Our T3 scenarios pop like they are being fired out of a minigun for destruction. I'm having pops the moment I queue! Should have rolled on a more popular server. :s

Though I would like to see a couple of T1 instance avl to play at 40. Of course I'd like to see them on a map cycle, christ there is already 9+ when you get in to T4!

So is anybody else dealing with horrendous lag? I seem to be able to play for about five minutes before I lag out and am unable to do anything but run around. If I'm lucky it's working fine and dandy again within 30 seconds to a minute, but it usually just sits like that until I forcefully quit the game and log back in.

I know it's not my internet connection as everything else runs at perfectly acceptable speeds, including WoW.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
