Well I just picked this up and hopefully by the end of the first month I'll know whether or not I'm going to stick with it.

Who wants me on their server? :p

Ostermark-order its a RP server but its pretty nice not to strict. My name is Karakgrom or you can message Paulus to get a guild invite. 80+ memebers atm.

Battlegrounds are allways equal though. wich is why the destruction guys have much longer queues, but they're all 14 year olds with ADD anyway so :p

lol i knew it!!

all the ally from WoW went to play dest side on WAR

i figured it out after watching the way they were playing BGs and saying "guys, lets just give up"

Destro in the early days seemed to allways win battlegrounds. but now I've won almost all theones I?ve particicpated in, maybe that's just because I started kicking ass with my Withc Hunter and I'm winning the game for everyone:pp

anyway today has been real bad for me, I keep getting dropped from the game to the login screen(where I have to accept thelicense AGAIN, for the 100000th time). iover and over I get dropped form the server and it's not my connection since everything else I have is just fine and my lag meters and such are fine and irc is workgin fine no disconects to any ofthe servers.

and the drops sort of break the GUI. after I drop once, once I loot corpeses the loot box don't go away, even thogh I have looted it, mnor annoyance. the fact that I keep droppign in the middle of PQ's is more annoying as I loose all the inf and points I earned before the drop when I rejoin andthus I allways loose the loot roll. and the drop with 10 more order point to go before we owned destroy on a BG was really annoying.

This game needs better handling of drops, and it needs better connection handling, The drop I'm havign today appear to be relatively inor self correcting communication problems, somewhere near the server since it's not affecting me, and it's not something that should cause me to drop anyway, it should just cause a temporary lag spike.

oh well at least the KArak Eight PEaks servr clone seems to have solved the server queues for the order side, Destro is still allways full, but again that's all the 14year olds from WoW.

Methinks he's right.

You are right and Hawkman is right. Sadly but true, immature 12 year olds occupy every server destruction side.

The good players who were HORDE and/OR alliance now roll Order because they know it's the right way to go.

So is anybody else dealing with horrendous lag? I seem to be able to play for about five minutes before I lag out and am unable to do anything but run around. If I'm lucky it's working fine and dandy again within 30 seconds to a minute, but it usually just sits like that until I forcefully quit the game and log back in.

I know it's not my internet connection as everything else runs at perfectly acceptable speeds, including WoW.

Yes. I stopped playing because I can't stand the lag. One second I am doing a Public Quest, next thing you know its OVER and I've died and back at the town. I also know it's not my connection because WoW works fine and so does everything else.

Well at least it's not just me. It's just weird how I don't see very many people complaining about it.

Hopefully they fix it soon.

I'm trying different servers too to see if that's the problem.

Right on. I am in a Druchii RP guild on that server.

Baseless generalizations like this are just terrible. Youngest person in my guild is 22. The absolute easiest way to make sure that you deal with fewer kids and general retardation, is play on an RP server. Just the act of using the creativity to name their character scares most of them away.

No kidding. Especially in this game, where the classes are all unique by some small detail. A Witch Elf is actually pretty fun to play, but you HAVE to be a female dark elf in order to play one.

I also like being a Chosen over an Ironbreaker or Swordmaster, just from the small differences in play style.

And I'm definitely not an immature 12-year-old kid ;)

well we never said all of them where, just the huge majority.

that chosen thing is also one of the reasons many roll destro and why order lacks tanks. Tank players dont wanna be a pointy eared daisy eater or a stumpy dorf, and Order had it's empire tak cut from the release game to balance the cut of a Destroy class that was broken or something. and they douln't cut another dorf class (too few) and for some reason they though peopel would rather have all the elf classes than Knight of the Burning Sun or whatever the class was called.

Lukily most of destro sucks and we kick their asses even without tanks :p

Our destruction side consists of ex-DAoC players (so they would well be over 12 by now) and professional e-sports guilds like nihilum.

Well I'm not sure about you guys, but the lag has greatly improved over the last 24 hours. I was able to play a good few hours both last night and today without a single problem. There was a tiny bit of lag here and there, but no more than a second, and definitely not where I could run around but not interact with anything.

Either the load is decreasing or they're working on their servers. I'm very glad either way

EDIT: It seems my happiness was short-lived. I tried playing a couple of hours ago and again just now, both times I lagged out within 15 minutes of logging on.

Oh well, hopefully they'll have these issues fixed soon :/

please tell me that the PvP gets better

i've only played 2 of the battlegrounds, the one with the exploding flags and capture the flag

no one has any idea how to play these

everyone just stands around doing nothing

order side just stands at the flag until they get overrun, they don't watch the flag, they just keep falling back and falling back till they lose

oh dest side i was playing capture the flag, when the other team took our flag no one chased after him

no one from my team went over to even make any attempt to get the flag at all

they just stood there at our flag or in the middle fighting

The problem with the scenarios is that there is no explanation of how to play them. you have to hover over theright graphic to get a description.

anyway the Empire vs Chaos on Tier 1 scenario is good, it's a territories thing though. easy to understand and it's . usually a good match too, too bad I cna't play it anymore. the T2 scenarion in Troll Country/Osterlan sucks in comparison, it's a capture the flag with a twist, of course you're never epxlained what to do. Something they could have done on the loading screen or during the countdown. and the gametype just sucks, and it doesn't really work very well since Destro has a million tanks and Order has two.

Uh Artifact entertainment made horizons not mythic. Mythic made Daoc and ultima online two of the most successful pvp mmo's to date.

WoW was released on nov 23rd 2004. In almost 4 years we have gotten 1 expansion, a complete total of 4 battle grounds (if you consider eots a bg) and a horrible **** fest called the arena.

The rest of WoW revolves around raiding and pveing and if you play now you either spend all your free time raiding with your guild or you sit in a group for hours while you try to find the one warrior/paladin/druid who will tank your instance for you.

And yet in those 4 years WoW still has not been able to balance out its classes (If you look at 2v2 and 3v3 the most popular arena brackets).

Unless you play a warrior/rogue/druid you might as well not even bother PvPing.

Mythic had nothing to do with Ultima Online. Ultima Online was done by Origin.

I keep hitting the exact same wall, every damn time!

Whenever I hit Tier 2 battlegrounds, wait times shoot up by around 1200% and the Win / Lose rate goes from about 60:40 to 0:100.

No matter how much I keep at it, what time of day, how many guilds I join Tier 2 always seems to slow the game to a halt for me. I now tried on several servers and characters to find the optimum server, always the same. Tried both side of the pond, Order and Destruction but the wait time is still there and the "Other side" always rolls us down.

Either I need to find a server with close to no wait time like Tier 1 or I'm giving up on this game. I can't be arsed to do quests all the way through this game and most of the Open RvR areas are dead most of the day.

So I need some tips on an extremely active server with some proper wait times, I hate waiting 20 Minutes to join a damn BG and then just lose it, I could live with the losing if the wait time was less than 5 minutes.

    • Are you going to do performance benchmarks comparing all states? I'd be interested in seeing that in the next "part".
    • My father still uses a programme written in dbase3. Still manages to work with a little help from dosbox.
    • Microsoft hides these secret Windows 11 performance boost settings available on every PC by Sayan Sen Windows enthusiasts often look for ways to extract as much performance out of their systems as possible, and it's often the case that they try and do so while trying to minimize the heat and power consumption. This is especially relevant in the case of mobile Windows PCs since laptops and notebooks tend to get hot and management of that heat and power is harder in such a form factor. As such users often turn to techniques like under-volting which can be used to squeeze out the maximum capabilities of a chip while also maintaining lowered power levels. There are official apps from AMD and Intel with the likes of Ryzen Master and XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility). While these are quite handy, most enthusiasts probably prefer to dig into the BIOS and play around with settings there like Curve Optimizer on Ryzen, which lets users set various frequency-voltage scaling values. These are essentially called P-States. If you are not familiar with them, Processor Power Management is done through Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) P-states and C-states. While P-states or performance pwoer states handle CPU voltage-frequency scaling, C-states deal with CPU sleep states so that some of the CPU functions, which are not necessary at that moment, can be disabled. The P-states and C-states work together to make the processor run more efficiently. It helps the OS and apps determine which cores can be parked and which should be boosted. Of course not every user is an enthusiast or knows the technicalities and integrities of how things like overclocking or undervolting work. Thankfully for them Windows itself offers something pretty cool, though it is hidden by default on all systems. By default, Windows only has two P-States, "Minimum Processor State" and "Maximum Processor State." However, this can be changed with a Registry trick to expand the options under a secret "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown. This essentially enables the HWP or hardware P-States available on a device, and these are not controlled just by the OS itself as the underlying hardware gets involved too. In total there are five Processor Performance Boost Mode profiles that control how Windows requests and allows CPU turbo/boost behavior under the different power policies. They are: Disabled: In this mode, processor boosting is effectively turned off. The CPU will avoid entering turbo or boost frequencies and instead operate closer to its base frequency ceiling. This can significantly reduce power consumption and heat output, but at the cost of reduced burst performance and responsiveness in short workloads. Enabled: This is the standard behavior where boost functionality is allowed under normal conditions. The processor can opportunistically increase frequency when workload demands it, balancing performance gains with power and thermal constraints as managed by the system. Aggressive: Aggressive mode favors performance more heavily, allowing the CPU to enter higher boost states more readily and sustain them longer. This should in theory improve responsiveness under bursty or heavy workloads but increases power draw and thermal output compared to the default enabled behavior. Efficient Enabled: This mode still allows boosting, but with a stronger bias toward energy efficiency. The system attempts to use boost more selectively, avoiding unnecessary frequency spikes when the performance gain is marginal. Efficient Aggressive: This is a hybrid approach where boost is still performance-responsive, but the system continuously weighs efficiency more heavily than in Aggressive mode. It aims to deliver noticeable performance improvements while reducing wasted power in less demanding scenarios. Here's how to enable the Processor performance boost mode: Open Registry Editor: Press Win+R, type regedit, and click OK. Go to: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7 (where HKLM stands for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_) Modify the value of Attributes from 1 to 2 (you can find modify option by right-clicking) After that, exit Registry, you should now be able to see the new "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown menu: As you can see there are now five new P-States or CPPC states or power profile available that help define the boost mode processor setting on your PC. Wrapping it up here's a quick run-down of the settings as defined by Microsoft itself. Setting Description Disabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is disabled. Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) behaviour is disabled. Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Efficient Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Efficient Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows calculates the desired extra performance above the guaranteed performance level, and asks the processor to deliver that specific performance level. Efficient Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows always asks the processor to deliver the highest possible performance above the guaranteed performance level. In the next part we shall be comparing these settings to explore how much of a benefit or regression they can provide in terms of performance and power efficiency. If you decide to change the values on your system and are experiencing problems like crashes or an overheating PC, make sure to revert the steps back to the original state.
