So I need some tips on an extremely active server with some proper wait times

It'll cost you. Pick one with a queue but be prepared to wait when you want to get in though.

We're starting to get 10+ T4 scenarios a day now on Eight Peaks. Battles are often closely fought between the two sides as well and most of us are coming out with a quarter of our RR bar full (I'm RR22) and 13k XP.

The price we pay for this is a 700 person queue! :|

You do need to find some friends though. 4 people can change the outcome of a scenario. But if you PUG it you will likely loose because people seem to have the combined IQ of a goldfish.

you give them too much credit

if i had fraps and recorded the scenarios i did tonite, you would lose a lot of faith in the human race

I have no idea what you're talking about, almost every group I'm in knows what they're doing. I have faith in the human race.

Me too. They're doing an excellent job of fixing any bugs (far better than AoC was doing at launch) and the game is just so fun.

My main is a Shadow Warrior. While I generally like being a melee DPS class, I'm having the most fun with this one.

Oh, and they have definitely fixed the lag-out issues I was having, and it's not just a temporary thing.

It looks like I'll be switching over full time from WoW

The only thing I ever heard from AoC was that GM that had cybersex with someone...really shows class XD

Melee DPS is the thing...Myself is a Witch Elf, alright and fun class(except that my character looks like a ######), hit Rank 20 yesterday and getting my bum towards 21.

Its fun, and different from WoW in some ways. =)....

Scenarios are fun too..not really gotten much into them

Can you guys post some of your specs that you are running the game on? I am going to be building a new computer end of year so I can truly enjoy the game (stopped playing recently because the lag really ruins the game) and want to see what specs work :)

Thanks

AMD Athlon 4200+ 64 X2 2.2GhZ Dual Core

2048 MB RAM DDR2

ATI X1950 Pro 512 MB DDR3 PCI-E

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate x86

Running it at 1360x768 on max settings with partial lag, always turn off the heavy memory using processes before I play it.

I REALLY wish they would improve the models for the elves, both realms. The way the males run makes me delete the toon after mere minutes. And I thought the Blood Elves in WoW were gay.

Loving the game though, most fun I've had in an MMO in years. Just wish I could pick one class to stick with...so many incredible options to choose from.

I totally agree!

Really want to play a Shadow Warrior but the animations / models just look like pure crap. Plus they need to add some proper hair for the males, from behind they look like women, which is also contributed by their bodies looking like a copy & paste from the female bodies with "Size +2".

Though most classes seem to bore me,

16 Zealot

16 Warrior-Priest

15 Chosen

14 Witch-Hunter

9 Marauder

6 Black Orc ( Current )

Every time I hit the Tier 2 Battlegrounds everything just grinds to a halt, the insane waits times and win rate goes belly up. I hope the ability to join all battlegrounds from where you stand will make the Black Orc more enjoyable, though its annoying to be more dead than alive due to the fact Destruction seems to lack healers big time. Annoying the Order healers are much more attractive to play.

Also, why are chat channels so dead?!? Also, a lot of people in game come off as elitists; the PvPers from WoW (no offense if anyone here is a PvPer from WoW, but most of them are asshats). Some things really put me off from this game. I got upto level 24 and it has been so quiet ever since I go into Tier 2. Scenarios have long wait times, fewer people are around, and the game just doesn't seem that fun anymore.

It was boring for me until I joined a guild; and it is true that NOBODY uses the area channels, unfortunately :/

I know what you mean. I made a female Shadow Warrior simply because a male would have looked like a female anyway

That, and I was running out of cool-sounding male names to use (and the random name generator tends to have names I can't even pronounce).

Mythic is apparently in the process of taking down suggestions from the player base on what they want implimented in the chat system. Most people want a zone-wide chat, much like what is in WoW, instead of being limited to the little sub-zones as it is now.

Also, what servers are you guys playing on? I've been bouncing around a bit, trying to find one that is active, yet not too terribly overpopulated.

also theres the fact that trial accounts give infinite accounts to gold spammers.

im not against them, i just prefer when they give the actual game players the keys for trials instead, if you can give 5 or so trials in a month that would be preferred.

oh god

i can't believe the amount of gold spamming i get

i've stopped playing WAR all together till they fix the ignore list and people figure out how to do the BGs (or scenarios whatever they're called in this game)

i thought this was going to hold me over till WotLK but i was wrong

the UI interface is also terrible imo

can't even click on a players name in the chat window to send them a tell..... :|

WAR WOW (spaces don't show....)

Same game amirite? Not doing everything Blizzard did makes the game fail amirite?

Two different games....I don't know why people keep comparing them. Go at it at a different angle instead of...a game to keep me occupied until Wotlk, you're bound to hate it with that kind of an attitude.

    • My issue is I can't access the forum on mobile if the site is set to Desktop mode on Vivaldi because it can't complete the Cloud flare am I a bot check! I know this is a Vivaldi issues as it has started happening on all cloud flare check sites, it's so annoying, I've reported it but no fix yet.
    • Are you going to do performance benchmarks comparing all states? I'd be interested in seeing that in the next "part".
    • My father still uses a programme written in dbase3. Still manages to work with a little help from dosbox.
    • Microsoft hides these secret Windows 11 performance boost settings available on every PC by Sayan Sen Windows enthusiasts often look for ways to extract as much performance out of their systems as possible, and it's often the case that they try and do so while trying to minimize the heat and power consumption. This is especially relevant in the case of mobile Windows PCs since laptops and notebooks tend to get hot and management of that heat and power is harder in such a form factor. As such users often turn to techniques like under-volting which can be used to squeeze out the maximum capabilities of a chip while also maintaining lowered power levels. There are official apps from AMD and Intel with the likes of Ryzen Master and XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility). While these are quite handy, most enthusiasts probably prefer to dig into the BIOS and play around with settings there like Curve Optimizer on Ryzen, which lets users set various frequency-voltage scaling values. These are essentially called P-States. If you are not familiar with them, Processor Power Management is done through Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) P-states and C-states. While P-states or performance pwoer states handle CPU voltage-frequency scaling, C-states deal with CPU sleep states so that some of the CPU functions, which are not necessary at that moment, can be disabled. The P-states and C-states work together to make the processor run more efficiently. It helps the OS and apps determine which cores can be parked and which should be boosted. Of course not every user is an enthusiast or knows the technicalities and integrities of how things like overclocking or undervolting work. Thankfully for them Windows itself offers something pretty cool, though it is hidden by default on all systems. By default, Windows only has two P-States, "Minimum Processor State" and "Maximum Processor State." However, this can be changed with a Registry trick to expand the options under a secret "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown. This essentially enables the HWP or hardware P-States available on a device, and these are not controlled just by the OS itself as the underlying hardware gets involved too. In total there are five Processor Performance Boost Mode profiles that control how Windows requests and allows CPU turbo/boost behavior under the different power policies. They are: Disabled: In this mode, processor boosting is effectively turned off. The CPU will avoid entering turbo or boost frequencies and instead operate closer to its base frequency ceiling. This can significantly reduce power consumption and heat output, but at the cost of reduced burst performance and responsiveness in short workloads. Enabled: This is the standard behavior where boost functionality is allowed under normal conditions. The processor can opportunistically increase frequency when workload demands it, balancing performance gains with power and thermal constraints as managed by the system. Aggressive: Aggressive mode favors performance more heavily, allowing the CPU to enter higher boost states more readily and sustain them longer. This should in theory improve responsiveness under bursty or heavy workloads but increases power draw and thermal output compared to the default enabled behavior. Efficient Enabled: This mode still allows boosting, but with a stronger bias toward energy efficiency. The system attempts to use boost more selectively, avoiding unnecessary frequency spikes when the performance gain is marginal. Efficient Aggressive: This is a hybrid approach where boost is still performance-responsive, but the system continuously weighs efficiency more heavily than in Aggressive mode. It aims to deliver noticeable performance improvements while reducing wasted power in less demanding scenarios. Here's how to enable the Processor performance boost mode: Open Registry Editor: Press Win+R, type regedit, and click OK. Go to: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7 (where HKLM stands for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_) Modify the value of Attributes from 1 to 2 (you can find modify option by right-clicking) After that, exit Registry, you should now be able to see the new "Processor performance boost mode" dropdown menu: As you can see there are now five new P-States or CPPC states or power profile available that help define the boost mode processor setting on your PC. Wrapping it up here's a quick run-down of the settings as defined by Microsoft itself. Setting Description Disabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is disabled. Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC) behaviour is disabled. Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is enabled. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Efficient Enabled The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Efficient Enabled. Efficient Aggressive The corresponding P-state-based behaviour is Efficient. CPPC behaviour is Aggressive. Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows calculates the desired extra performance above the guaranteed performance level, and asks the processor to deliver that specific performance level. Efficient Aggressive At Guaranteed Windows always asks the processor to deliver the highest possible performance above the guaranteed performance level. In the next part we shall be comparing these settings to explore how much of a benefit or regression they can provide in terms of performance and power efficiency. If you decide to change the values on your system and are experiencing problems like crashes or an overheating PC, make sure to revert the steps back to the original state.
