I've tried looking in properties for files, but can't see where to set new icons. Going to search the net, but i couldn't help and ask since i've never changed my icons before. nevermind, just found iconpackager edit 2: wtf...only for mac? anyway to get these on a pc? ahh nvm just found gconvert that does it. You can either use CandyBar or cmd+c (copy) the icon file and then cmd+v (paste) it onto the top left icon in the Get Info panel:

The best way to change icons system-wide is to use a program such as CandyBar on Mac or IconPackager on Windows (I don't know which programs are the best, but those are the two I can think of off the top of my head). Cadium
You can either use CandyBar or cmd+c (copy) the icon file and then cmd+v (paste) it onto the top left icon in the Get Info panel: The copy/paste icon replacement method only works now and then depending on what the icon file was generated with. The best way is through CandyBar which at $29 is a great price. If you're not comfortable with system-wide replacement, you can always use the "Quick Drop" feature which does it on a per-file/folder basis. Highly recommended. If you get a corrupted .icns file, use the freeware app img2icns. I've never had a single bad .icns file after using it. I don't what it does, but it generates perfect icon images every time.
