xcguy87
So I installed eeexubuntu on my eee pc, only to find out that I don't have working audio anymore! I followed all the guides that describe modifying configuration files "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base", and "snd-hda-intel", but no luck. Anyone else ever had this problem before? Thanks in advance. DrunkenMaster
Hmmm, I never had problems with it. Is the audio disabled in the BIOS perchance? Did you turn off the volume ( ;) ). You can always go to a console and type in 'dmesg' which will give you an output of the hardware the kernel detects. If anyone else owns an EEE, I've left mine lying around for a few months and I'm using it a lot more now. Here's an idea: I've installed Slackware + the Bitnami Docuwiki and Subversion servers (http://bitnami.org/) its all prebuilt LAMPP packages. I figure Docuwiki will make a nice format for typing up ideas, thoughts, and work i've been wanting to work on and subversion + external HDD will give me a backup server for my desktop. Its a nice little machine for me to hookup my speakers and play music instead of cranking up my waste electricity desktop.

xcguy87
Thanks so much for the replies. I ended up installing Ubuntu-eee, and mostly everything worked out of the box (except hotkeys and CPU frequency scaling). If anyone is interested i wrote a quick little script to load the appropriate kernel modules for CPU scaling as well as install the hotkey scripts. Thanks again for your replies.
